7,052 Possible Causes for Lymphocytes

  • Infectious Mononucleosis

The percentage of CD8 /CD11b- cells was not increased in the atypical lymphocytes. However, CD45RO was expressed on 86.3% of CD4 atypical lymphocytes.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] One of the potential regulators of apoptosis of T-lymphocytes is a death receptor 3 (DR3).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The levels of liver enzymes and atypical lymphocytes increase with age.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Insect Bite

An insect-bite-like reaction is known to occur in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Abstract A 69-year-old woman with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia presented with an 18-month history of pruritic, tender, erythematous plaques.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The 3 patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia seemed to have a worse prognosis than expected for their disease.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Upper Respiratory Infection

Exercise and blood lymphocyte subset responses: intensity, duration, and subject fitness effects. J Appl Physiol 1990 ; 69 : 251 –60. Nieman DC .[doi.org]

  • Influenza

Her bronchoalveolar lavage fluid contained an unusually high number of lymphocytes, and a drug-induced lymphocyte stimulation test for seasonal influenza vaccine was positive[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] In contrast, decreasing lymphocyte counts were observed in 2 patients with fatal influenza pneumonia ( figure 2 ).[doi.org] A low absolute lymphocyte count on admission is associated with more severe disease and death.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Viral Lower Respiratory Infection

Full blood count, Ig levels and IgG subclasses, and lymphocyte subclasses were within normal limits.[pnas.org] The immunodeficiency of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. Br Med Bull. 2008; 87 :49-62. doi: 10.1093/bmb/ldn034. [PubMed: 18755702 ]. 11. Speer ME, Good AB.[ijcancerprevention.com]

  • Drug-induced Fever

The authors also suggest that HHV-6 reactivation should be considered in the presence of eosinophilia or atypical lymphocytes.[hhv-6foundation.org] In a patient without evidence of hypersensitivity (the lymphocytes did not react to the drug in vitro) fever was the sole manifestation of an adverse reaction to cimetidine[mayoclinic.pure.elsevier.com] Lymphocyte stimulation tests were positive for both drugs (stimulation indices: 193% for cimetidine and 325% for ranitidine).[link.springer.com]

  • Sinusitis

Ipilimumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4, and nivolumab, targeting programmed cell death-1, have been associated with numerous immune-related[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] If immunodeficiency is suspected, testing should include immunoglobulin and lymphocyte testing.[clinicaladvisor.com] In ALPS, unusually high numbers of a type of white blood cell called a lymphocyte accumulate in the lymph nodes, liver, and spleen, which can lead to enlargement of these[niaid.nih.gov]

  • Pharyngitis

These studies do not address the potential life-threatening complication of steroids in patients with pharyngitis or lymphadenopathy in the setting of undiagnosed acute lymphocytic[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Values suggestive of infectious mononucleosis include: 50% lymphocytes, 10% atypical lymphocytes, or elevated absolute lymphocyte or atypical lymphocyte counts.[cdemcurriculum.com] Atypical lymphocytes can be seen on peripheral blood smear. Viral cultures from washings are about 20% sensitive in adults.[web.archive.org]

  • Skin Infection

[…] of β1 and β2 integrins but to be highly adhesive to integrin ligands and to display decreased migration compared with control T lymphocytes.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] With testing for CD18 integrin function by flow cytometry, adhesion assay analysis, and time-lapse microscopy, we found the patient's T lymphocytes to express normal levels[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Acute Bronchitis

[…] the CD4/CD8 ratio, activation of CD8 lymphocytes, and exudation as indicated by an increase in fluid phase fibrinogen.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] BALF neutrophils and lymphocytes normalised at 9 and 15 months, respectively, after smoking cessation 106 .[doi.org] Sputum findings identified intense airway inflammation characterised by increased total cell and lymphocyte counts followed by an increase in neutrophils and a decrease in[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
