718 Possible Causes for Abnormal Gait, Blurred Vision, Memory Impairment

  • Stroke

Asymmetric step length is a common abnormal gait pattern in hemiplegic stroke patients.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] He developed headache, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, diplopia, dizziness, and ataxia following the procedure.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Memory impairments are common after stroke, and the anatomical basis for impairments may be quite variable.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Hydrocephalus

., congenital toxoplasmosis (see congenital infections ) Acquired Clinical features Features of increased ICP Headache, nausea, and vomiting Papilledema Abnormal gait Impaired[amboss.com] This can cause a wide range of symptoms, including headache, blurred vision, sickness and difficulty walking.[cuh.nhs.uk] This can cause a number of long-term complications, such as: learning disabilities impaired speech memory problems short attention span problems with organisational skills[nhs.uk]

  • Multiple Sclerosis

abnormalities (e.g. wide-based gait, limb ataxia, slapping foot) joint or muscle contractures neurological examination muscle spasticity increased deep tendon reflexes muscle[orthobullets.com] Early MS symptoms include weakness, tingling, numbness, and blurred vision. Other signs are muscle stiffness, thinking problems, and urinary problems.[web.archive.org] Additionally, there is also evidence that CBD may reduce the negative psychotropic effects, memory impairment, and appetite stimulation, anxiety and psychotic-like states[dx.doi.org]

  • Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia

Clinically, patients may present with fatigue, weight loss, peripheral neuropathy or symptoms of hyperviscosity, including headache, blurred vision or epistaxis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Other manifestations include mental status changes such as confusion and memory loss, which result from CNS infiltration.[symptoma.com] vision, and bruising.[hematology.org]

  • Acute Alcohol Intoxication

walking Blurred vision Slurred speech Pain is dulled Stupor Cannot stand or walk Vomiting Unconsciousness is possible Decreased response to stimuli Apathetic Coma Unconscious[casapalmera.com] Gait disturbance, cognitive dysfunction (memory impairment) nausea, vomiting, visual deficits (diplopia, mydriasis), and hypothermia are symptoms encountered in more pronounced[symptoma.com] Comparisons of alcohol and placebo groups revealed impairment (slower response and/or increased errors) in seven of the cognitive processes: long-term verbal memory; information[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Vitamin B12 Deficiency

It is important to carry out ophthalmological examination in every case of megaloblastic anemia if associated with blurring of vision and mental retardation.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Neurologic signs and symptoms: Numbness—tingling Weakness of legs, arms, trunk Impaired vibration—position sense Abnormal reflexes Unsteady or abnormal gait Balance problems[b12awareness.org] These results suggest that memory retention impairment formed during vitamin B 12 deficiency is partially attributable to oxidative stress. • Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

Gait abnormality, severe upward gaze palsy, bilateral bradykinesia and absence of alien limb syndorme separated PSP from corticobasal degeneration.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The most common features of PSP are loss of balance leading to unexplained falls, blurred vision, problems controlling eye movement and slurred speech.[raredr.com] We report the case of a 75-year-old ex-professional boxer who developed diplopia and eye movement abnormalities in his 60's followed by memory impairment, low mood and recurrent[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Alzheimer Disease

gait.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The common primary symptom at presentation with all patients was difficulty with near vision (reading difficulty n 8, "visual blur" in near vision n 2), and difficulty writing[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The MCI patients showed impairment of everyday memory tasks requiring delayed recall.[dx.doi.org]

  • Traumatic Brain Injury

Other symptoms of mild TBI include headache, confusion, lightheadedness, dizziness, blurred vision or tired eyes, ringing in the ears, bad taste in the mouth, fatigue or lethargy[ninds.nih.gov] Three of the four individuals had abnormal vestibular function, all had abnormally slow walking speeds and two had abnormal gait and balance dysfunction.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] RATIONALE: We report on a patient who showed delayed degeneration of the left fornical crus with verbal memory impairment following mild traumatic brain injury (TBI), which[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Hypothyroidism

Congenital secondary hypothyroidism (associated with clinical signs of disproportionate dwarfism, lethargy, gait abnormalities, and constipation) has been reported in Giant[web.archive.org] Eye Blurred vision due to periorbital edema and puffing may occur.[symptoma.com] A 75-year-old man experienced neurologic symptoms including memory impairment, ataxic gait, sensory polyneuropathy and myopathy, lethargy, and edema of the face and lower[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
