18 Possible Causes for Agent Orange, Goiter, Thyroid Nodule

  • Thyroid Lymphoma

METHODS: The sonographic findings for 13 surgically proven primary thyroid lymphomas were analyzed and compared to those for 27 nodular goiters.[] The most frequent clinical presentation was a palpable thyroid nodule. All patients with lymphoma died.[] Thirteen (60%) patients presented with thyroid nodule(s). Eleven (50%) presented with aerodigestive tract obstructive symptoms.[]

  • Thyroid Cancer

Chest goiter removal removes goiters (enlarged thyroid) that extend into the chest.[] Follow-Up of Thyroid Nodules R14–R15 1176 [A16] Medical therapy for benign thyroid nodules R16–R17 1176 [A17] Thyroid nodules in children R18 1176 [A18] Thyroid nodules in[] Orange is significantly higher than in the general VHA population.[]

  • Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma

The patient was also found to have associated amyloid goiter. Mass spectrometry of the amyloid showed it to be composed of kappa light chains.[] BACKGROUND: To prospectively evaluate the role of procalcitonin (PCT) in screening of patients with thyroid nodules for medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).[] Orange is significantly higher than in the general VHA population.[]

  • Diabetes Mellitus

Thyroid ultrasound showed a diffuse goiter in both lobes of her thyroid gland.[] Services Our multi-disciplinary team work across the following speciality areas: Diabetes mellitus Thyroid nodules/thyroid cancer Neuroendocrine tumours (MDT includes adrenal[] For example, dioxin—a contaminant of the herbicide Agent Orange, used during the Vietnam War—may be linked to the development of type 2 diabetes.[]

  • Methimazole

Complete resolution of the fetal goiter was observed at 35 weeks gestation.[] , goiters, thyroid nodules, and thyroid...[] agent • Maculopapular rash (orange spots on agent's suit) • Agranulocytosis (think of the sand timer in the background with the self-destruct sequence initiated) • Aplastic[]

  • Agranulocytosis

Other disorders of the thyroid include nodules, goiters, and carcinoma, which is relatively uncommon.[] Vietnam veterans exposed to Agent Orange are at risk of developing MDS.[] The results from the ultrasonograph showed diffuse goiter and normal liver.[]

  • Pituitary Adenoma

A 67-year-old woman with a history of operated pituitary macroadenoma presented with symptoms of hyperthyroidism including a large goiter.[] Amelia Rogozinski, Alejandra Furioso, Patricia Glikman, Marcelo Junco, Rosa Laudi, Adriana Reyes and Alicia Lowenstein, Thyroid nodules in acromegaly, Arquivos Brasileiros[] A dye (contrast agent) may be injected into your bloodstream (Fig. 3). • Superior Vena Cava Syndrome

CTA chest showed pulmonary embolus and incidental goiter with mild tracheal compression.[] The ultrasonography showed retrosternal goitre with heterogeneous parenchyma and nodules with cystic-necrotic degeneration.[] Axial contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan of upper chest shows encasement and compression of superior vena cava (red arrow) by tumor (orange arrow).[]

  • Monoclonal Gammapathy

In this group, 3 women aged approximately 60 years with toxic multinodular goiters had an MIg (2 IgGλ and 1 IgAλ) that was detected only by immunofixation.[] Researchers from MSK provided the first direct evidence linking Vietnam veterans exposed to Agent Orange with MGUS. MGUS can be precancerous.[] All others had cytologically benign cold thyroid nodules.[]

  • OSLAM Syndrome

Definition / general Autoimmune disease with goiter, elevated circulating antithyroid peroxidase and antithyroglobulin antibodies First described by Hakaru Hashimoto in 1912[] It was a difficult loss and the scars still remain, visible in the number of homeless veterans and those still suffering the effects of handling Agent Orange.[] Treatment Often no treatment needed, thyroid hormone for hypothyroidism (may remain euthyroid after 1 year when drug is withdrawn), subtotal thyroidectomy to relieve mass[]
