113 Possible Causes for Amenorrhea, Bitemporal Hemianopsia

  • Pituitary Neoplasm

Cushing-like effects, diplopia, bitemporal hemianopsia and diabetes insipidus are some of many symptoms that can be encountered.[] Prolactinoma and nonfunctioning pituitary adenoma: infertility amenorrhea (absence of menses or menstrual periods) oligomenorrhea (irregular/sparse menstruation) decreased[] The most common problem is to lose vision in the outer fields (peripheral vision), called a bitemporal hemianopsia.[]

  • Craniopharyngioma

Of the seventeen (63%) patients presenting with varying degrees of bitemporal hemianopsia, all had improvement in vision postoperatively.[] A 30-year-old woman presented with a 5-month history of amenorrhea and was admitted to the hospital. She underwent surgical resection for three times and died at last.[] People may present with bitemporal inferior quadrantanopia leading to bitemporal hemianopsia, as the tumor may compress the optic chiasm.[]

  • Acromegaly

In addition, bitemporal hemianopsia was observed on campimetry. After further examination, the patient was diagnosed with acromegaly.[] A 50-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with headache, mild acromegaly, and bitemporal hemianopsia.[] These include headaches, visual abnormalities, typically bitemporal hemianopsia, and cranial nerve palsies.[]

  • Pituitary Adenoma

Here, we report the case of a 67-year-old woman who presented with bitemporal hemianopsia and visual impairment accompanied by mildly elevated prolactin.[] CASE DESCRIPTION: An otherwise healthy 27-year-old woman presented with secondary amenorrhea and moderately elevated prolactin levels.[] hemianopsia who was found to have a pituitary abscess in the setting of an adenoma.[]

  • Launois Syndrome

Symptoms related to the compressive effects of the tumor include headaches, visual disturbances such as bitemporal hemianopsia, and signs of hypopituitarism.[]

  • Prolactinoma

Clinically, the patient was found to have hypogonadism and bitemporal hemianopsia.[] Here, we present a 48-year-old female patient who had a recurrent episode of major depressive disorder (MDD) and amenorrhea.[] A 48-year-old man with a prolactin-secreting macroadenoma treated with cabergoline presented with progressive bitemporal hemianopsia.[]

  • Hypogonadism

Gov't MeSH terms Adult Amenorrhea/genetics* Amenorrhea/metabolism Amenorrhea/physiopathology Chromosomes, Human, Pair 4/genetics Chromosomes, Human, X/genetics Chromosomes[] Hypothalamic disorders such as tumors and hypothalamic amenorrhea, as well as exposure to radiation, can lead to hypogonadism.[] […] of the voice, and facial hair Inability to smell (in some cases) Short stature (in some cases) Adults: Loss of interest in sex (libido) in men Loss of menstrual periods (amenorrhea[]

  • Pituicytoma

Here, we report the case of a 67-year-old woman who presented with bitemporal hemianopsia and visual impairment accompanied by mildly elevated prolactin.[] […] magnetic resonance study performed after Gd injection revealed a markedly, homogeneously enhanced, early-phase pituitary lesion in a 32-year-old woman with a 1-year history of amenorrhea[] A 64-year-old man presented with progressive visual complaints, bitemporal hemianopsia, and headache.[]

  • Corticotroph Pituitary Adenoma

Bitemporal hemianopsia is classically produced by compression of the optic chiasm.[] This type of pituitary adenoma results in: • Blurry vision • Loss of peripheral vision, called bitemporal hemianopsia • Loss of color perception, the ability to distinguish[] Humphrey visual field 24-2 showing a bitemporal hemianopsia. Figure 2.[]

  • Pituitary Apoplexy

Neurological examination disclosed bitemporal hemianopsia. Computed tomography (CT) scans revealed a suprasellar mass including intratumoral hematoma.[] It typically presents years later or as inability to lactate after delivery due to prolactin deficiency and amenorrhea due to gonadotrophin deficiency.[] Confrontation test visual field testing revealed bitemporal hemianopsia. Brain imaging demonstrated a suprasellar mass.[]
