60 Possible Causes for Amenorrhea, Bitemporal Hemianopsia, Prolactin Increased

  • Craniopharyngioma

Of the seventeen (63%) patients presenting with varying degrees of bitemporal hemianopsia, all had improvement in vision postoperatively.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] A 30-year-old woman presented with a 5-month history of amenorrhea and was admitted to the hospital. She underwent surgical resection for three times and died at last.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] In this paper we report a case of mixed pituitary adenoma/craniopharyngioma observed in a 75-year-old woman presenting with diplopia and slight increase of serum prolactin[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Acromegaly

In addition, bitemporal hemianopsia was observed on campimetry. After further examination, the patient was diagnosed with acromegaly.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] A 50-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with headache, mild acromegaly, and bitemporal hemianopsia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] These include headaches, visual abnormalities, typically bitemporal hemianopsia, and cranial nerve palsies.[symptoma.com]

  • Pituitary Adenoma

Here, we report the case of a 67-year-old woman who presented with bitemporal hemianopsia and visual impairment accompanied by mildly elevated prolactin.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] CASE DESCRIPTION: An otherwise healthy 27-year-old woman presented with secondary amenorrhea and moderately elevated prolactin levels.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Some women produce breast milk even though they are not breastfeeding ( galactorrhea ) because of a related increase in prolactin.[merck.com]

  • Prolactinoma

Clinically, the patient was found to have hypogonadism and bitemporal hemianopsia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Here, we present a 48-year-old female patient who had a recurrent episode of major depressive disorder (MDD) and amenorrhea.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Causes of high prolactin levels in the blood: Primary Hypothyroidism : this is due to increased TRH levels which is known to stimulate prolactin levels Renal failure : prolactin[houstonendocrine.com]

  • Galactorrhea-Amenorrhea Syndrome

Periodic assessment of the visual fields showed an increase in size of the blind spots after 10 weeks and a moderate bitemporal hemianopsia after 22 weeks, which improved[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Abstract We evaluated long-term treatment with the antiserotonergic agent cyproheptadine in the management of the galactorrhea-amenorrhea syndrome.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] In the three women effectively treated with pyridoxine, the galactorrhea returned, serum prolactin levels increased, and the menses ceased after discontinuing pyridoxine.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Launois Syndrome

Symptoms related to the compressive effects of the tumor include headaches, visual disturbances such as bitemporal hemianopsia, and signs of hypopituitarism.[symptoma.com]

  • Empty Sella Syndrome

A 48-year-old man with a prolactin-secreting macroadenoma treated with cabergoline presented with progressive bitemporal hemianopsia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Specific reference is directed toward the capability of the empty sella syndrome to produce pituitary impairment and possibly amenorrhea. 1975 The American College of Obstetricians[journals.lww.com] […] to increase after thyrotrophin releasing hormone (TRH, 500 microgram), confirmed the diagnosis of panhypopituitarism.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Chromophobe Adenoma

Abstract A 50-year-old man with bitemporal hemianopsia and an enlarged sella turcica was found to have hyperthyroidism with elevated serum thyrotropin levels (17 mμg per milliliter[nejm.org] A 46 y/o F presented with nausea & acute vision loss R L,with no symptoms of amenorrhea, hypothyroidism or hypoadrenalism.[endocrine-abstracts.org] Thioridazine was found to increase the serum prolactin level as well as the tumor size of a prolactin--secreting pituitary chromophobe adenoma in a schizophrenic man [12].[wikigenes.org]

  • Granulomatous Giant-Cell Hypophysitis

A neurologic examination revealed bitemporal hemianopsia.[kjim.org] She had also noted several months of amenorrhea. She was febrile to 38.9 degrees C. Laboratory evaluation revealed a markedly elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The preoperative serum endocrine levels revealed thyroid and adrenal axis insufficiencies, but increased of levels of prolactin.[cnjournal.biomedcentral.com]
