  • Infectious Mononucleosis

A 49-year-old man with diabetic mellitus suffered from IM with fever, pharyngitis, parotiditis with lymphadenopathies, thrombocytopenia and splenomegaly.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] To depict the grey-scale and Doppler features of cervical lymphadenopathy due to infectious mononucleosis (IM) and to compare the findings with other benign conditions and[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Clinical estimates of splenomegaly are fallible.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The patient showed severe hepatomegaly incidentally, and dual positivity of Immunoglobulin (Ig) M to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) viral capsid antigen (VCA) and cytomegalovirus[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Infectious mononucleosis (IM) is a rare cause of aplastic anemia in adults.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

There is no or little evidence of anemia or thrombocytopenia.[symptoma.com] […] of the left zygomatic region; anterior nasal bleeding; pustulous non-itching lesions at the cervical region and posterior thorax; enlarged bilateral axillary lymph nodes; hepatomegaly[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Approximately 5-10% of CLL is complicated by autoimmune cytopenia (AIC), such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] After 3 years, he presented a CLL progression with worsening lymphocytosis, anemia, thrombocytopenia, increased splenomegaly, and lymphadenopathies.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Symptoms may be absent or may include lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly, hepatomegaly, and nonspecific symptoms attributable to anemia (fatigue, malaise) and immunosuppression[merckmanuals.com]

  • Hairy Cell Leukemia

We are reporting a 4-year-old child who was received for investigation for persistent anemia, prolonged fever, and thrombocytopenia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Based on these findings, we diagnosed the patient with systemic lymphadenopathy due to HCL.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Also these cytokines may play a role in the development of hairy cell leukemia.Key words: hairy cell leukemia -  sarcoidosis - massive splenomegaly.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Hepatomegaly and liver dysfunction may be found in 20% of patients.[symptoma.com] Here, we describe a patient with HCL who initially presented with pancytopenia and received a diagnosis of aplastic anemia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Primary Myelofibrosis

Six weeks later, he developed grade 4 thrombocytopenia and grade 3 anemia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Clinical manifestations depend on the type of blood cell affected and may include anemia, pallor, splenomegaly, hypermetabolic state, petechiae, ecchymosis, bleeding, lymphadenopathy[orpha.net] We report a patient with very advanced myelofibrosis and huge splenomegaly who showed a complete hematological response to low dose thalidomide with reversal of splenomegaly[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The patient, a 62-year-old female, having had primary myelofibrosis for 13 years and a splenectomy 4 years before, was admitted because of high fever, hepatomegaly, thrombocythemia[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Most of them had anemia, fever, and hepatosplenomegaly on admission.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Castleman Disease

The side effects, essentially sustained thrombocytopenia, were mild in both cases.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Castleman disease, also known as angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia and giant lymph node hyperplasia, represents a group of non-neoplastic lymphoproliferative disorders[symptoma.com] Older age ( 40 years), splenomegaly, and hypoalbuminemia were risk factors for poorer MCD prognosis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Examination revealed pallor; generalized edema; axillary, cervical, and inguinal lymphadenopathy; hypertension; and hepatomegaly.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Laboratory findings were consistent with anemia of inflammation. Direct antiglobulin test was positive without any other evidence of autoimmune anemia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia

The aim of our study was to analyze the association of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] A 53-year-old woman with CMML and newly diagnosed cervical lymphadenopathy underwent whole-body PET/CT for evaluation of extramedullary disease.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Splenomegaly is frequently seen and may be massive.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] If the liver gets too big (called hepatomegaly), it causes discomfort in the upper right part of the abdomen.[cancer.org] Here is reported the case of an elderly woman that, after surgical intervention, showed an important anemia, leucocytosis and thrombocytopenia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Aggressive Systemic Mastocytosis

A rapidly progressive anemia and thrombocytopenia dictated a splenectomy.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] A 43 year-old woman presented with fever, abdominal pain, epato-splenomegaly, ascites, cholestasis, anemia, thrombocytopenia and previous diagnosis of sclerosing cholangitis[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] However, loss of appetite due to hepatomegaly is not the only condition that causes ASM patients to lose weight: Mast cells also infiltrate the intestinal walls, which causes[symptoma.com] Retro-orbital injections of P815 NT cells in syngeneic DBA/2 mice resulted in rapid development of aggressive SM within 13-16 days characterized by splenomegaly, extramedullary[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] A rapidly progressive anemia and thrombocytopenia dictated a splenectomy.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Gaucher Disease

Medical examination showed slight splenomegaly (250 62 mm), thrombocytopenia (platelets 51 109/L), anemia (Hb levels 107 g/L), and β-glucocerebrosidase activity (GBA) in leukocytes[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Protein-losing enteropathy due to massive mesenteric lymphadenopathy is a rare complication of Gaucher disease which is generally refractory to treatment with enzyme replacement[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] HALS for GD patients with refractory hypersplenism and massive splenomegaly is safe and feasible in experienced hands.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] After 4years of ERT, therapeutic goals for thrombocytopenia and splenomegaly had been achieved in 100% of patients; goals for anemia and hepatomegaly had been achieved in[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Gaucher disease is a common inborn error of metabolism leading to widespread chronic inflammation and often thrombocytopenia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • T-Cell Lymphoma

Finally, she developed sever thrombocytopenia during her chemotherapy and died because of lung hemorrhage two months after her operation.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Hepatosplenomegaly and systemic lymphadenopathy were detected by enhanced computed tomography.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Splenomegaly and adenopathy in mesentery, retro peritoneum and lymph node chains in the limbs were observed.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Aggressive NK cell leukemia – this lymphoma presents with acute systemic symptoms including fever, jaundice, lymphadenopathy, and hepatomegaly.[symptoma.com] Thrombocytopenia, infections and neutropenia were the most common reasons for this.[nps.org.au]

  • Malignant Histiocytosis

The terminal event was characterized by fever, hepatosplenomegaly, thrombocytopenia, and a leukemic blood picture.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Four months after the operation, skin induration on the neck and anterior thoracic wall and systemic lymphadenopathy were noted.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The long duration of massive splenomegaly suggests that this patient could represent a chronic form of MH.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Most patients presented with systemic symptoms and lymphadenopathy (92%), splenomegaly (100%) and hepatomegaly (67%).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The clinical features included fever, anemia, and marked hepatosplenomegaly without lymphadenopathy.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
