429 Possible Causes for Anemia, Liver Hemangioma

  • Microangiopathic Hemolytic Anemia

In medicine ( hematology ), microangiopathic hemolytic anemia ( MAHA ) is a microangiopathic subgroup of hemolytic anemia (loss of red blood cells through destruction) caused[en.wikipedia.org] Complications related to liver hemangioma are rare.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] This case indicates that giant cavernous hemangioma of the liver should be considered in the differential diagnosis of MAHA, and if surgical treatment is adequate, hematological[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Kasabach Merritt Syndrome

Doppler examination showed elevated peak systolic velocity in the middle cerebral artery, indicating acute fetal anemia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] We report the case of a 14-month-old child with Kasabach-Merritt Syndrome, due to a giant liver hemangioma.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Adult Kasabach-Merritt syndrome associated with giant liver hemangioma is uncommon, and surgical treatment is risky.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia

Cardiac phenotypes should be pronounced in hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) due to frequent systemic arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), iron deficiency anemia,[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Bevacizumab, a VEGF inhibitor, reduces epistaxis, telangiectasias, and iron-deficiency anemia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Bleeding and anemia were the most common complications. Molecular analysis was conducted in 4 patients.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

She was diagnosed with SLE with pernicious anemia and iron deficiency anemia. The rare association of SLE with pernicious anemia was reported previously in few patients.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Berzigotti A, Frigato M, Manfredini E, Pierpaoli L, Mulè R, et al. (2011) Liver hemangioma and vascular liver diseases in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.[omicsonline.org] The most common laboratory finding was anemia, found in 22 (69%) of cases.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Hemoperitoneum

Aplastic anemia is a rare hematopoietic stem-cell disorder that results in pancytopenia and hypocellular bone marrow.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Initially, the computed tomography finding was interpreted as liver hemangioma.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] An otherwise healthy 81-year-old man presented with abdominal pain/tenderness and anemia (hemoglobin: 7.4 g/dL).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy

He also had hypothyroidism, liver hemangiomas, thrombopenia, anemia and diverticulosis. X-EDMD may occur along with dCMP.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] He also had hypothyroidism, liver hemangiomas, thrombopenia, anemia and diverticulosis. Conclusions: X-EDMD may occur along with dCMP.[karger.com] He also had hypothyroidism, liver hemangiomas, thrombopenia, anemia and diverticulosis. X-EDMD may occur along with dCMP.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Hemangiomatosis

A 17-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with anemia and dizziness for several months.[e-ce.org] Abdominal ultrasonography and computed tomography demonstrated multiple liver hemangiomas as well as a noncystic lesion in the right iliac fossa.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Magnetic resonance imaging of the abdomen revealed the marked decrease in size of the liver hemangioma.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Thorotrast

Two patients with chronic anemia and bone marrow hypoplasia secondary to Thorotrast deposition are described.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Autopsy revealed hemangioendothelial sarcoma and multiple capillary hemangiomas in the liver.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The cause of death was gastric hemorrhage complicating pancytopenia secondary to refractory anemia with excess of blasts (myelodysplastic syndrome).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Glucagonoma

This report describes a classic presentation consisting of dermatitis, glossitis, stomatitis, angular cheilitis, anemia, and weight loss that was associated with the finding[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] However, we could not detect any mass in the pancreas or the gastrointestinal tract, and only found a liver lesion resembling a hemangioma.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] A CBC can uncover anemia, which is an abnormally low level of hemoglobin .[en.wikipedia.org]

  • Extramedullary Hematopoiesis

Bulky extramedullary hematopoiesis, usually detected in the thorax by imaging techniques, is a well-known complication in many types of congenital anemias.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] MRI findings was compatible with liver hemangioma and the transaminitis was attributed to liver hemangioma versus EMH.[biomarkerres.biomedcentral.com] Hemangiomas are the most common benign tumors of the spleen.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
