145 Possible Causes for Cerebrospinal Fluid Protein Increased, Fever, Intracerebral Hematoma

  • Cerebral Hemorrhage

AIM: Hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage (HCH) is a potentially life-threatening cerebrovascular disease with high mortality.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] She presented with acute deterioration of consciousness and fever and was diagnosed with HSE based on the detection of herpes simplex virus-1 in the cerebrospinal fluid by[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] On analysis, the cerebrospinal fluid was colorless and transparent, the pressure was more than 400 mm H2O, there was lymphocytic pleocytosis, increased protein, and decreased[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Stroke

CT-guided stereotactic aspiration of intracerebral hematoma—result of a hematoma-lysis method using urokinase. Appl Neurophysiol. 1985 ; 48 :427–430.[doi.org] He had 3 months history of fatigue, fever, and weight loss. Neurological examination revealed left hemiparesis and dysarthria.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] In this case, the duration from fever detection to death was notably short.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

BACKGROUND: Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) with an intracerebral hematoma (ICH) shows an unfavorable prognosis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The impact of fever on DCI and clinical outcomes was assessed.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] In the hyperacute phase of SAH, slight shortening of T1 occurs due to the increased protein and new cellular content within cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).[mri-q.com]

  • Acute Myelocytic Leukemia

A patient with acute nonlymphocytic leukemia developed progressive lung infiltrates and unremitting fevers during a profound neutropenic state.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Acute leukemias affect immature cells; the disease develops rapidly, with symptoms including anemia, fever, bleeding, and swelling of the lymph nodes.[britannica.com] […] for an enlarged spleen or splenic rupture Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) ARDS has been reported in patients receiving NEUPOGEN Evaluate patients who develop fever[neupogenhcp.com]

  • Lupus Encephalitis

After excluding other factors, five NPSLE patients had severe infection, two patients with status epilepticus or cerebral hemorrhage, and one patient with the liver failure[archivesofrheumatology.org] She maintained complete alertness for the next two days, although low-grade intermittent fever persisted.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] fluid (CSF), protein may be elevated and there may be an increase in the number of mononuclear cells.[epilepsy.com]

  • Acute Leukemia

RESULTS: All 231 patients had a fever; of them, 12 patients continued to have a fever.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The initial manifestations of leukemia are generally signs of bone marrow failure, such as pallor, fatigue, fever, bleeding, and infection related to peripheral blood cytopenias[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Herein, we report a case involving a 23 year old Punjabi man having fever and breathlessness in the postinduction therapy period for mixed-phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL)[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Amyloidosis

Disease definition Hereditary cerebral hemorrhage with amyloidosis (HCHWA), Flemish type is a form of HCHWA (see this term) characterized by an age of onset of 45 years of[orpha.net] A 64-year-old man on hemodialysis for 30 years was admitted because of intermittent fever, polyarthritis, and elevated serum C-reactive protein (CRP) level, which was continuous[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] These patients typically present with cerebral hemorrhage followed by dementia.[emedicine.com]

  • Systemic Amyloidosis

In localized forms, amyloid can be deposited in the brain (hereditary cerebral hemorrhage with amyloidosis of the Icelandic and the Dutch type, and Alzheimer disease), or[medlink.com] A patient with subretinal and preretinal hemorrhage after secondary systemic amyloidosis due to familial Mediterranean fever is presented. Case presentation.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Cerebrovascular amyloid angiopathy most often causes spontaneous lobar cerebral hemorrhage but some patients have brief, transient neurologic symptoms.[merckmanuals.com]

  • Cerebral Thrombosis

When the hemorrhagic component of the infarction is large, it may look like any other intracerebral hematoma with surrounding vasogenic edema.[radiologyassistant.nl] After 7 to 19 days, patients suddenly deteriorated, developing headache, fever, a decreased level of consciousness, brainstem signs, or hemiparesis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Examination of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) does not necessarily help in establishing the diagnosis as there are no pathognomonic features.[pmj.bmj.com]

  • Herpes Simplex Encephalitis

Cerebral hemorrhage should be considered as an acute-phase complication of HSE.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] A 30-year-old man was admitted in PGIMER with the complaints of fever, altered sensorium and seizures.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) examination revealed lymphocytic pleocytois (12 cells; 100% lymphocytes) with increased protein (98 mg/dl) and mildly reduced sugar (40 mg/dL) along[omicsonline.org]
