115 Possible Causes for Cerebrospinal Fluid Protein Increased, Hemiparesis, Intracerebral Hematoma

  • Cerebral Hemorrhage

During the course of illness, the patient had an acute cerebral hemorrhage, which manifested with hemiparesis, dysarthria, and pathologic crying.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] AIM: Hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage (HCH) is a potentially life-threatening cerebrovascular disease with high mortality.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] On analysis, the cerebrospinal fluid was colorless and transparent, the pressure was more than 400 mm H2O, there was lymphocytic pleocytosis, increased protein, and decreased[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Cerebral Thrombosis

She was treated with anticoagulation therapy and her hemiparesis improved within 3 days.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] When the hemorrhagic component of the infarction is large, it may look like any other intracerebral hematoma with surrounding vasogenic edema.[radiologyassistant.nl] Examination of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) does not necessarily help in establishing the diagnosis as there are no pathognomonic features.[pmj.bmj.com]

  • Stroke

SSEH presenting as a hemiparesis is less common and in such situations, it can be mistaken for a cerebrovascular accident (CVA).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] CT-guided stereotactic aspiration of intracerebral hematoma—result of a hematoma-lysis method using urokinase. Appl Neurophysiol. 1985 ; 48 :427–430.[doi.org] In the Wind chapter of Donguibogam, left hemiparesis due to stroke is called Tan, a sort of Hyeol-Byeong, and right hemiparesis due to stroke is called Tan, a sort of Gi-Byeong[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

A 73-year-old woman was transferred to our hospital for sudden headache and subsequent left hemiparesis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] BACKGROUND: Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) with an intracerebral hematoma (ICH) shows an unfavorable prognosis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] In the hyperacute phase of SAH, slight shortening of T1 occurs due to the increased protein and new cellular content within cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).[mri-q.com]

  • Cerebral Embolism

However, the patient then developed fever, dyspnea, and subsequent right hemiparesis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Six hypertensive patients showed cerebral infarction without any evidence of cerebral hemorrhage in brain CT, and had atrial fibrillation in all cases except one. 3.[kjim.org] Cerebrovascular disease; CVA; Cerebral infarction; Cerebral hemorrhage; Ischemic stroke; Stroke - ischemic; Cerebrovascular accident; Stroke - hemorrhagic; Carotid artery[medlineplus.gov]

  • Lupus Encephalitis

The authors describe three young women with systemic lupus erythematosus and hemiparesis who had major cerebral artery stenosis or occlusion documened by angiography.[glosbe.com] After excluding other factors, five NPSLE patients had severe infection, two patients with status epilepticus or cerebral hemorrhage, and one patient with the liver failure[archivesofrheumatology.org] fluid (CSF), protein may be elevated and there may be an increase in the number of mononuclear cells.[epilepsy.com]

  • Subdural Hematoma

An 81-year-old man, presenting with left hemiparesis, underwent craniotomy for right organized CSH after 2 burr-hole surgeries.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The procedure was uneventful, however, the patient developed a postoperative large acute left temporoparietal intracerebral hematoma associated with an ipsilateral acute subdural[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Acute Intracerebral Hematoma Case 6: 60 year-old patient with melanoma.[stritch.luc.edu]

  • Leptomeningeal Metastasis

Despite chemotherapy, the lesion increased in volume, which led to local pain and right hemiparesis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Brain metastases from HCC are extremely rare, accounting for only 0.2-2.2% of all metastases [5], but 40-70% of brain metastases can cause cerebral hemorrhage and are often[bmccancer.biomedcentral.com] Important paper demonstrating that advanced techniques can increase diagnostic yield over cerebrospinal fluid cytopathology alone.[futuremedicine.com]

  • Hypertensive Encephalopathy

A 32-year-old man presented with slight left hemiparesis. He was slightly confused, and his blood pressure was extremely high.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The question frequently arises whether the neurological symptoms are caused by cerebral hemorrhages as a result of rupture of diseased vessels, encephalomalacias from thrombosis[annals.org] DDs Amyloid angiopathy • Second most frequent cause of cerebral hemorrhage (next to atheromatosis), especially recurrent. • Hemorrhages are most common in frontal and parietal[neuroradiologycases.com]

  • Brain Abscess

The patient presented with right-sided homonymous hemianopsia and right hemiparesis. Emergent surgical drainage was performed and antibiotics were administered.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] hematoma or a nonseptic infarct into an abscess after an infectious complication has never been documented.[stroke.ahajournals.org] The cerebrospinal fluid shows some increase in pressure and may frequently show mild increase in protein content or leukocyte count.[pediatrics.aappublications.org]
