651 Possible Causes for Dysarthria, Intracerebral Hematoma, Seizure

  • Stroke

CT-guided stereotactic aspiration of intracerebral hematoma—result of a hematoma-lysis method using urokinase. Appl Neurophysiol. 1985 ; 48 :427–430.[doi.org] Dysarthria is more prevalent in left than in right hemisphere lesions.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Twenty patients (40%) had a single seizure, and most seizures (34, or 68%) were simple partial seizures or partial seizures with 2 generalization.[doi.org]

  • Intracerebral Hematoma

Abstract Three cases of organized intracerebral hematomas presented slowly progressive neurological deficits and hence mimicked brain tumors.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Dysarthria & dysphagia may occur. There are no Babinski signs until late in the evolution of the hemorrhage as it expands to the brainstem.[enotes.tripod.com] Three normotensive patients presented with seizures and CT showed an intracerebral hematoma.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

BACKGROUND: Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) with an intracerebral hematoma (ICH) shows an unfavorable prognosis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Case Description: A 53-year-old male patient suddenly developed severe headache associated with dysarthria and an altered state of consciousness.[surgicalneurologyint.com] None of the patients with epilepsy after discharge had electrographic seizures while hospitalized.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Cerebral Hemorrhage

AIM: Hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage (HCH) is a potentially life-threatening cerebrovascular disease with high mortality.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] During the course of illness, the patient had an acute cerebral hemorrhage, which manifested with hemiparesis, dysarthria, and pathologic crying.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The neurologic morbidities, including seizure activity, motor/sensory deficit, and coma, can be seen secondary to cerebral edema, hemorrhage, or ischemia.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Cerebral Thrombosis

When the hemorrhagic component of the infarction is large, it may look like any other intracerebral hematoma with surrounding vasogenic edema.[radiologyassistant.nl] More than a third of them sustains seizures, with generalized seizures occurring more frequently than focal seizures. Many patients present with hemiparesis.[symptoma.com] The clinical spectrum of intracerebral hematoma, hemorrhagic infarct, non-hemorrhagic infarct, and non-lesional venous stroke in patients with cerebral sinus-venous thrombosis[ajnrdigest.org]

  • Tetanus

On examination, there was left-sided upper motor neurone facial palsy and right lower motor neurone facial palsy, with dysarthria but no dysphasia, diminished sensation over[doi.org] The infant recovered, with no seizures by the 16th day from admission, and was off the ventilator by the 18th day.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Physical examination revealed severe trismus, dysarthria, and dysphagia in both patients. Patients had no noticeable history of trauma.[doi.org]

  • Central Nervous System Disorder

Clinical Testing and Workup Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the technique of choice to visualize tumors, infarcts, cerebral hemorrhage, demyelinating plaques and other[rarediseases.org] Expressive aphasia differs from dysarthria, which is typified by a patient's inability to properly move the muscles of the tongue and mouth to produce speech.[ranker.com] […] with falls, long seizures, or repeated or clusters of seizures.[epilepsy.com]

  • Cerebellar Hemorrhage

Spontaneous intracerebral hematomas: a new proposal about the usefulness and limits of surgical treatment.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The first patient was treated conservatively and had mild residual dysarthria and gait ataxia 2 months after surgery.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] He has been seizure-free till date.[cureus.com]

  • Alzheimer Disease

Cerebral hemorrhage after passive anti-Abeta immunotherapy. Science 2002; 298(5597): 1379 PubMed CrossRef Google Scholar 31. Dodart JC, Bales KR, Gannon KS, et al.[doi.org] The clinical phenotype was remarkable for spastic dysarthria, limb spasticity, and seizures, in addition to more typical features of EOFAD.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] hemorrhage with amyloidosis.[dx.doi.org]

  • Epilepsy

Vries, Linear Intracerebral Calcification After Depth Electrode Implantation, Epilepsia, 36, 5, (508-512), (2005). Yuval Shafrir and Arthur L.[oadoi.org] He developed gait imbalance, intentional tremor and dysarthria.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] […] manifested by focal seizures.[doi.org]
