  • Congestive Heart Failure

Features due to left heart failure: Dyspnea, orthopnea and paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea: These symptoms develop due to congestion of the lungs.[symptoma.com] The daily dosage was adjusted on the basis of the patient's clinical response and her follow-up chest x-ray studies.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Testing may include a chest x-ray to look for cardiomegaly (an enlarged heart), pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs), or pleural effusion (collection of fluid around the lungs[dx.doi.org]

  • Cardiomyopathy

  • Pericardial Effusion

Radiologic examinations were carried out, and the computed tomography scan revealed a hepatomegaly and a chest X-ray showed evidence of a unilateral pleural effusion.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Considerable amounts of pericardial fluid may muffle heart sounds, increase the area of cardiac dullness, and change the size and shape of the cardiac silhouette.[merckmanuals.com] However, she began to experience dyspnea on exertion leading to admission.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Cardiac Tamponade

Thus, edema and dyspnea are more prominent features of cardiac tamponade when there is a slow rise in pericardial pressure.[doi.org] […] her chest X-ray.[dear-medic.jp] These patients often develop frequent ascites and present with clinical signs and symptoms similar to cardiac tamponade (tachycardia, hypotension and dyspnea).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Suppurative Pericarditis

Initial chest X-ray showed cardiomegaly, bibasilar and retrocardiac parenchymal opacities, without signs of pulmonary congestion or pleural effusion (Figure 1).[revistas.unal.edu.co] Patients with large pericardial effusions have an area of increased dullness at the base of the heart in addition to generalized enlargement of the area of cardiac dullness[tele.med.ru] Case-report: A healthy 3 month-old patient admitted with dyspnea, pallor and anorexia, developing cardiogenic shock due to cardiac tamponade.[researchers.unab.cl]
