10 Possible Causes for Electrocardiogram Change, Tachycardia during Pain Episodes

  • Coronary Artery Disease

Changes noted in the original electrocardiogram were of significant importance in reaching the diagnosis.[] Transient ST-segment depression and chest pain detected during ambulatory monitoring were usually associated with tachycardia ( Figure 3 ).[] No ischemic changes on the electrocardiogram were noted for either patient.[]

  • Variant Angina Pectoris

Changes were quantified by subtracting baseline electrocardiograms from those obtained during ischemia.[] Ventricular premature beats, ventricular tachycardia and one episode of ventricular fibrillation were recorded.[] The 12-lead electrocardiogram and blood pressure (cuff) were monitored throughout the whole test.[]

  • Ventricular Tachycardia

Understanding of the initial electrocardiographic pattern and subsequent changes can lead to early intervention and an improved outcome.[] If your heart rate during a ventricular tachycardia episode is extremely rapid or continues for several seconds, you may experience some or all of these symptoms.[] To optimize patient outcomes, ventricular tachycardias need to be rapidly diagnosed and managed, and often the electrocardiogram (ECG) is the first and only manifestation[]

  • Bradyarrhythmia

Other symptoms experienced during an episode of SVT include dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, and light-headedness.[] Supraventricular tachycardias are generally not life-threatening, but their symptoms can be dehabilitating to patients.[]

  • Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia

Abstract During episodes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT), electrocardiograms frequently show ST-segment depressions, and patients may experience typical[] The sister, a 24-year-old woman, had intermittent episodes of palpitation accompanied by chest pain for 2 years.[] […] chest pain prompting invasive coronary angiography.[]

  • Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome

The mechanism of the electrocardiogram changes was considered to be caused by the two drugs synergistic sodium channel blocking effects.[] A child old enough to express himself may complain of chest pain, palpitations, dizziness, lethargy and difficulty in breathing during episodes of tachycardia.[] Immediately following this, her rhythm changed to wide QRS irregular tachycardia without hemodynamic compromise.[]

  • Preexcitation Syndrome

, shape changing complexes in a young individual.[] […] or irregularly) Shortness of breath A physical exam done during a tachycardia episode will show a heart rate faster than 100 beats per minute.[] An electrocardiogram at rest was performed in all subjects and changes analyzed by the Minnesota code.[]

  • Lown-Ganong-Levine Syndrome

In cases of underlying structural heart disease or coronary artery disease, episodes of tachycardia may induce cardiac stress and produce symptoms of chest pain or possibly[] Physical Findings are normal except during tachycardic episodes; cardiovascular examination may then reveal a rapid heart rate.[]

  • Holiday Heart Syndrome

These tests not only confirm the diagnosis but also identifies other pathological changes of the heart.[] During an episode, you may experience symptoms such as: a pounding or fluttering heartbeat ( heart palpitations ) feeling light-headed or dizzy shortness of breath chest pain[] Holiday heart syndrome is diagnosed with the use of an electrocardiogram (ECG) and if necessary, an echocardiograph should be conducted.[]

  • Cardiac Asthma

Heart failure will be confirmed through electrocardiograms (EKG), cardiac stress tests, and imaging tests such as echocardiogram (an ultrasound of the heart) and CT scans.[] During the acute episode, the patient may experience chest pain, usually caused by myocardial ischemia.[] Treatment may include lifestyle changes (monitoring fluid and salt intake and moderate exercise) and medication to get rid of extra fluid and increase the heart’s ability[]
