13 Possible Causes for Endoscopic Ultrasound showing Pancreatic Mass

  • Insulinoma

Objective: To determine the sensitivity of calcium injected into pancreatic arteries in localizing insulin-secreting tumors to regions of the pancreas. Design and Patients: To stimulate the release of insulin, 25 patients with surgically proven insulinomas (average diameter, 15 mm) had calcium gluconate (0.025 mEq Ca[…][]

  • Pancreatic Neoplasm

Esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (EGD) with endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) showed a solid pancreatic head mass (4.8 5.6 cm), invading the portal vein (PV), superior mesenteric vein[] (CBD), having a mass-effect on the second part of the duodenum (D2).[] CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis ( Figure 2 ) revealed a similar mass in the head of the pancreas, with slight dilatation of the pancreatic duct (PD) and common bile duct[]

  • Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the pancreatic mass showed neoplastic epithelial cells arranged in papillary clusters with fibrovascular cores[] Follow-up MRI cholangiogram showed a 1.0 0.8 cm T1 hypointense lesion in the proximal body of the pancreas.[]

  • Anuria

Endoscopic ultrasound revealed large paraduodenal pancreatic mass measured 58.5 mm x 55.5 mm, obstructing the bile duct and causing external compression on the duodenum.[] ERCP showed high grade distal common bile duct stricture, which was dilated and stented with a 10 mm 60 mm partially covered metallic biliary stent ( Fig 2 ).[]

  • Autoimmune Pancreatitis

Endoscopic ultrasound revealed a homogeneous and hypoechogenic lesion in the pancreatic tail with a "sausage-like" appearance.[] mass.[] Laboratory analyses showed normal levels of immunoglobulin G4 and negative antinuclear antibodies.[]

  • Pancreatic Phlegmon

Endoscopic ultrasound showing a solid-cystic pancreatic mass.[] Immunohistological evaluation led to a diagnosis of desmoid tumor primarily involving the pancreas, with cells showing nuclear positivity to beta-catenin.[]

  • Myxedema

The EUS did not show any pancreatic mass with normal common bile duct and pancreatic duct.[] In light of pancreatic head prominence and mild elevation in liver function tests, the patient was referred to our center for an endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).[]

  • Duodenal Hematoma

The endoscopic ultrasound showed an increased concentric duodenal wall thickness that was consistent with a duodenal hematoma.[] Computerized tomography (CT) identified a hypoechoic, homogenous mass in the pancreatic head ( Fig. 1 ).[]

  • Pancreatic Heterotopia

Endoscopic ultrasound will show a heterogenous submucosal mass with a pancreatic duct remnant.[] For more endoscopic details download the video clips by clicking on the endoscopic images, wait to be downloaded complete then press Alt and Enter; thus you can observe the[]

  • Merkel Cell Carcinoma

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided FNA of the pancreatic mass showed neoplastic cells with similar morphology to those of the axillary mass.[] A subsequent PET scan revealed a 1.5 cm FDG avid mass in the pancreas.[]
