479 Possible Causes for Erythema, Neutrophil Count Increased, Thrombosis

  • Cellulitis

DISCUSSION: The current emergency medicine definition of cellulitis includes erythema, induration, warmth, and swelling.[] Immune System Due to active inflammation, there is a high neutrophil count and eosinophilia. Platelet count may be increased in case of bleeding.[] We report a 16-month-old girl with varicella complicated by cellulitis, invasive Group A Streptococcus (GAS) infection and deep vein thrombosis.[]

  • Polycythemia Vera

Erythema, burning, and pain in the extremities, a symptom complex known as erythromelalgia, is another complication of the thrombocytosis of PV.[] […] platelet count, an abnormally increased neutrophil count, radiological evidence of splenomegaly, and abnormally low serum erythropoietin.[] Thrombocytosis in patients with a history of thrombosis may cause thrombosis recurrence during the follow-up period. KEYWORDS: Bleeding; Polycythemia vera; Thrombosis[]

  • Periorbital Cellulitis

This boy has pronounced erythema and edema of the periorbital region.[] Systemic anticoagulation therapy is considered safe practice in the management of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis and may reduce morbidity and mortality.[] Consider cavernous sinus thrombosis.[]

  • Erysipelas

Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium. Abstract We report histopathological findings in a case of familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) syndrome with an erysipelas-like erythema[] The indication of adjuvant anticoagulant therapy is not clear because of the lack of data about the incidence of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in these patients.[] All had a painful erythema of the medial part of one or both calves and all failed numerous antibiotic regimens.[]

  • Orbital Cellulitis

Nine out of fifty-seven (15.8%) presented exophthalmos associated with eyelid erythema and edema, while the rest suffered mainly from eyelid erythema and edema.[] The mean time between initial presentation to diagnosis of cavernous sinus thrombosis was 2.8 days, and the average length of hospital admission was 21 days.[] Symptoms included pain, swelling, erythema and eventual loss of vision in the left eye.[]

  • Osteomyelitis

Patients were followed up until the infection resolved (ie, no cutaneous signs of infection, including pain, erythema, or swelling).[] Deep venous thrombosis associated with acute hematogenous osteomyelitis in children. Orthop Traumatol Surg Res. 2010 Dec. 96(8):890-3. [Medline].[] There may be swelling and extreme tenderness over the affected area with associated erythema and warmth.[]

  • Sweet Syndrome

Usual clinical differential diagnosis includes erythema multiforme, drug eruption, and erythema nodosum.[] Thus, despite low absolute neutrophil counts, the accumulation of neutrophils in skin lesion increased rapidly and the ND manifestations may develop [ 7 ].[] After 24 h, computed tomography (CT) was arranged of the orbits, paranasal sinuses, and brain in order to exclude orbital cellulitis, subperiosteal abscess, cavernous sinus thrombosis[]

  • Hemorrhoids

According to the laboratory test, the white blood cell count was 10,440/µL (neutrophils, 84%; normal range, 8,770/µL), which showed an increase in white blood cell count and[] Deep-vein thrombosis in two district hospitals in Essex.[] A diagnosis of thrombosis of very large hemorrhoids (Grade 4) was made.[]

  • Myeloproliferative Disease

[…] symptoms: Headache, Lightheadedness, Syncope, Atypical chest pain Acral paresthesia, Livedo reticularis  Erythromelalgia - burning pain of the hands or feet associated with erythema[] Main feature: gradual increase in leukocyte count See too many neutrophils at various stages of maturation, granulocytosis with all granulocytic precursors, and there is characteristic[] METHODS: Blood samples were obtained from 40 IVC thrombosis patients.[]

  • Sialadenitis

In case 2, a conjunctival erythema accompanied the sialadenitis.[] Complications   Extension of an abscess into the parapharyngeal space may result in airway obstruction, mediastinitis, internal jugular thrombosis and carotid artery erosion[] Mucus plugging in the duct of the gland was the most common finding (22 patients) followed by stenosis (18 patients), inflammation (eight patients), and erythema (eight patients[]
