50 Possible Causes for Hematocrit Decreased, Reticulocytes Increased, Uric Acid Increased

  • Hereditary Spherocytosis

Reticulocyte count: Increased Treatment: Splenectomy is indicated for moderate to severe cases, but not mild cases.[medical-labs.net] A complete blood count (CBC) may show increased reticulocytes, a sign of increased red blood cell production, and decreased hemoglobin and hematocrit.[en.wikipedia.org] Reticulocytes decreased to 0%. Spherocytosis was present on the peripheral blood smear.[bmcresnotes.biomedcentral.com]

  • Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia

Over the course of the next 5 days, the Hb and Hct decreased to 4.1 g/dL and 12%, respectively, direct bili increased to 12.3 mg/day, reticulocytes slightly increased to 0.9%[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The differential white blood count shows a decrease in most types of cells but not lymphocytes .[labtestsonline.org] Laboratory data showed low hemoglobin levels and slightly increased reticulocyte counts, while direct and indirect antiglobulin tests were positive.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Sickle Cell Disease

With each course, fetal reticulocytes increased within 48-72 h, peaked in 7-11 d, and fell by 18-21 d.[doi.org] (p 0.001), while hemoglobin and hematocrit remained stable.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] On her third day of admission, due to hemoglobin (Hb) value of 6.9 g/dL with increase in reticulocytes, the patient was transfused with one unit of compatible leukodepleted[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

Gout – increased cell turnover excess purines broken down to uric acid Increased susceptibility to infections – functional immune cells Shortness of breath/fatigue – anaemia[geekymedics.com] Sodium bicarbonate may be used to alkalinize the urine to increase uric acid excretion.[lecturio.com] Symptoms of CML may include: Upper abdominal pain – hepatosplenomegaly Poor appetite – enlarged spleen may compress the stomach Low-grade fever/night sweats – increased metabolism[geekymedics.com]

  • Chronic Phase of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

acid – gout/uropathy Histamine increase with basophil 90% In normal cells, two red and two green signals indicate the location of the normal ABL and BCR genes, respectively[slideshare.net] […] turnover of glucocerebrocide* Collagen type III – correlates with spleen size and megakaryocytosis* Angiogenetic marrow – reduces with treatment B12 – immature cell leak Uric[slideshare.net] […] face *Massive - and in almost all patients Sternal tenderness – lower part – patient can detect Neutrophil alkaline phosphatase activity is low or absent (90%) - Activity increases[slideshare.net]

  • Acute Monocytic Leukemia

Joint Pain Joint pain occurs due to the presence of increased deposition of uric acid in the joints resulting in gout.[lecturio.com] Hyperleukocytosis also increases the odds of spontaneous TLS and the number of blasts contributing to the uric acid load.[clinicaladvisor.com] There will be increased uric acid, potassium and phosphorus while a decreased calcium levels are seen in tumor lysis syndrome (as shown in the table).[lecturio.com]

  • Hodgkin Lymphoma

The endobronchial localization of Hodgkin's disease is a rare entity which is often confused with endobronchial tuberculosis in our setting. We report the case of a 16 years old female who presented with 6 months history of dry cough, hemoptysis, dyspnea, dysphagia and dysphonia. The chest radiography showed a[…][ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Lead Poisoning

[…] construction workers and to decreased birth weight and increased odds of clinically relevant hypertension ( Gonzalez-Cossio et al. 1997 ; Hu et al. 1996 ).[doi.org] In support of this hypothesis, recent studies have shown that bone-Pb but not BPb is significantly related to declines in hematocrit and hemoglobin among moderately Pb-exposed[doi.org]

  • Chronic Kidney Insufficiency

The prevalence of anemia increased with stage of CKD, from 8.4% at stage 1 to 53.4% at stage 5. [17] No reticulocyte response occurs.[emedicine.medscape.com] RBC survival is decreased, and bleeding tendency is increased from the uremia-induced platelet dysfunction.[emedicine.medscape.com]

  • HELLP Syndrome

Blood smears have shown contracted red cells w/ spicula, polychromatic red cells, and increased reticulocyte counts.[physio-pedia.com] The laboratory investigations before death revealed evidence of hemolysis, which is decreased hematocrit, elevated lactate dehydrogenase (865 U/L), and low platelet count[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Although a significant trend was apparent in increasing levels of lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase, and uric acid as HELLP syndrome worsened, there was considerable[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
