16 Possible Causes for Lacrimal Gland Enlargement, T-Lymphocyte Count Increased

  • Infectious Mononucleosis

Infectious mononucleosis should be suspected in patients 10 to 30 years of age who present with sore throat and significant fatigue, palatal petechiae, posterior cervical or auricular adenopathy, marked adenopathy, or inguinal adenopathy. An atypical lymphocytosis of at least 20 percent or atypical lymphocytosis of[…][ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Precursor-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia

The increase in the ALC was primarily from activated CTL019 T lymphocytes. Patient 1 was a 7-year-old girl with a second recurrence of ALL.[doi.org] Panel C shows changes in the circulating absolute neutrophil count (ANC), absolute lymphocyte count (ALC), and white-cell count.[doi.org] In both children, the absolute lymphocyte count increased substantially ( Figure 1C ) and the number of CTL019 cells progressively increased from baseline in vivo ( Figure[doi.org]

  • Influenza

Deterioration of CD4 T-lymphocyte cell counts or progression of HIV disease has not been demonstrated among HIV-infected persons after influenza vaccination compared with[cdc.gov] Deterioration of CD4 T-lymphocyte cell counts or progression of HIV disease have not been demonstrated among HIV-infected persons after influenza vaccination compared with[cdc.gov] Other studies using similar laboratory techniques have not documented a substantial increase in the replication of HIV ( 195--198 ).[cdc.gov]

  • Herpes Zoster

Most studies have documented increasing zoster risk as CD4 T-lymphocyte counts decline, but the risk is increased nine-fold even among HIV-infected women with CD4 T-lymphocyte[web.archive.org] However, the risk might decline at CD4 T-cell counts µ L ( 136 ). Persons infected with HIV also are at increased risk for recurrences of zoster.[web.archive.org] counts 750/ µ L compared with HIV-negative controls ( 135 ).[web.archive.org]

  • Mikulicz Disease

It has features of an allergic disorder: abnormally high Th2 cytokines in tissues, raised IgE and increased T-reg lymphocytes in the blood, and raised eosinophil count in[dermnetnz.org] Mikulicz disease comprises the triad of: symmetrical enlargement of all salivary glands narrowing of the palpebral fissures due to enlargement of the lacrimal glands parchment-like[gpnotebook.co.uk] Benign lymphoepithelial lesion is a type of benign enlargement of the parotid and/or lacrimal glands.[en.wikipedia.org]

  • Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer; it also strikes adults of all ages. Malignant transformation and uncontrolled proliferation of an abnormally differentiated, long-lived hematopoietic progenitor cell results in a high circulating number of blasts, replacement of normal marrow by[…][msdmanuals.com]

  • Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia

Additional tests that may be done include: 24-hour urine protein Total protein Immunofixation in urine T (thymus derived) lymphocyte count Bone x-rays Some people with WM[nlm.nih.gov] Additional tests that may be done include: 24-hour urine protein Total protein Immunofixation in urine T (thymus derived) lymphocyte count Bone x-rays Treatment Some people[mclaren.org] A bone marrow biopsy will show increased numbers of abnormal cells that look like both lymphocytes and plasma cells.[nlm.nih.gov]

  • IgG4-Related Retroperitoneal Fibrosis

It has features of an allergic disorder: abnormally high Th2 cytokines in tissues, raised IgE and increased T-reg lymphocytes in the blood, and raised eosinophil count in[dermnetnz.org] Most commonly involved are the pancreas, major salivary glands (sialadenitis, salivary gland enlargement), lacrimal glands (lacrimal gland enlargement and proptosis), retroperitoneal[elynsgroup.com] Role of Th2 cells in IgG4-related lacrimal gland enlargement.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Chronic Thyroiditis

It has features of an allergic disorder: abnormally high Th2 cytokines in tissues, raised IgE and increased T-reg lymphocytes in the blood, and raised eosinophil count in[dermnetnz.org] Lacrimal gland enlargement was observed in 8 cases.[ajnr.org] Role of Th2 cells in IgG4-related lacrimal gland enlargement. • Alcoholic Liver Disease

B and T lymphocytes are noted in the portal and periportal areas, and natural killer lymphocytes are noted around hyalin-containing hepatocytes.[emedicine.medscape.com] Physical Examination and Laboratory Findings In Alcoholic Liver Disease Physical Examination Constitutional Fever Skin Spider angioma Parotid and lacrimal gland enlargement[clevelandclinicmeded.com] Patients have decreased peripheral lymphocyte counts with an associated increase in the ratio of helper cells to suppressor cells, signifying that lymphocytes are involved[emedicine.medscape.com]
