669 Possible Causes for Leukocytosis, Lymphocytosis

  • Infectious Mononucleosis

Lymph node biopsy was performed and he was diagnosed as atypical infectious mononucleosis (absence of fever, pharyngitis, lymphocytosis and negative atypical lymphocytosis[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Leukocytosis is a common feature of infectious mononucleosis and absence of this should suggest an alternative diagnosis.[symptoma.com] The presence of atypical lymphocytosis significantly increases the likelihood of mononucleosis (summary LR, 11.4 [95% CI, 2.7-35] for atypical lymphocytes 10%, 26 [95% CI,[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Influenza

A 39-year-old woman received a seasonal influenza vaccine in November 2015 and subsequently experienced malaise, low-grade fever, and chest discomfort. A chest X-ray performed 2 weeks after vaccination showed multiple nodular shadows in both lungs and ground-glass shadows in both lower lung fields. Her[…][ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Tuberculosis

CNS Tuberculosis: A meningeal pattern of spread can occur, and the cerebrospinal fluid typically shows a high protein, low glucose, and lymphocytosis.[library.med.utah.edu] It may also cause leukocytosis and anemia, however, the findings are nonspecific.[symptoma.com]

  • Adrenal Insufficiency

Laboratory findings: CBC: normochromic, normocytic anemia, relative lymphocytosis with increased eosinophil count Acid-base: Mild metabolic acidosis Renal function: Prerenal[openanesthesia.org] […] vasoconstrictors Opposition to increases in capillary permeability Inhibition of interleukin-2 (IL-2) production by macrophages Stimulation of polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN) leukocytosis[emedicine.medscape.com] Laboratory Findings and Management In cases of adrenal insufficiency, the complete blood count usually reveals anemia, neutropenia, eosinophilia, and relative lymphocytosis[news-medical.net]

  • Mantle Cell Lymphoma

Asymptomatic lymphocytosis is frequently seen with ibrutinib use in mantle cell lymphoma; however, tumor lysis syndrome is an extremely rare complication.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] A 60-year-old male patient presented with obvious leukocytosis and progressive weakness.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Common clinopathological forms of indolent presentations include monoclonal B lymphocytosis with t (11; 14); "indolent leukemic" presentation of MCL with involvement of peripheral[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Rai classification Stage 0: Only lymphocytosis is present i.e 15,000 mm3. Stage I: Lymphocytosis along with lymphadenopathy is present.[symptoma.com] We report two cases of biclonal CLL presented with leukocytosis, typical morphological features, and distinct immunophenotype of CLL.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] In chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) the absolute neutrophil count (ANC) has generally been reported to be within normal limits and leukocytosis is due to absolute lymphocytosis[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Hairy Cell Leukemia

We report the simultaneous presence of hairy cell leukemia, monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis, and alpha beta CD4( ) /CD8( ) T-cell large granular lymphocytosis in a 63-year-old[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The 3 HCL-v patients had leukocytosis and received chemotherapy with variable outcome.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] We present a case of a 52-year-old man hospitalized in July 2012 in the Clinic of Hematology of Craiova, Romania, having splenomegaly, leukocytosis with lymphocytosis, anemia[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Bordetella Pertussis

However, occasional apneic episodes with cyanosis and peripheral lymphocytosis suggested neonatal pertussis and prompted us to examine the presence of Bordetella pertussis[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] To assess safety, mouse weight gain test and leukocytosis promotion test were performed using 4-week-old ddY female mice.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Studies of pertussis in children show absolute lymphocytosis in 50% of patients, and characteristic small, mature lymphocytes with hyperchromatic, cleaved nuclei may account[bloodjournal.org]

  • Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis

Clues leading to the diagnosis included aseptic meningitis during winter and the finding of hypoglycorrachia and lymphocytosis in the cerebrospinal fluid.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] […] transplant recipients had abdominal pain, altered mental status, thrombocytopenia, elevated aminotransferase levels, coagulopathy, graft dysfunction, and either fever or leukocytosis[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Prolymphocytic Leukemia

This patient's condition was diagnosed as T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia based on the findings of lymphocytosis, abnormal immunophenotype, hepatosplenomegaly, lymphadenopathy[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] This patient presented with an asymptomatic leukocytosis and splenomegaly.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (T-PLL) is an uncommon chronic lymphoproliferative disorder characterized by lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly, and lymphocytosis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
