  • Tinea Pedis

The identification of Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. nodulare is described, based on a strain recently isolated from tinea pedis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Recombinant dermcidin was determined to have antimycotic activity against Trichophyton rubrum, as evaluated by colony-forming unit (CFU) assays.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] We report here two cases of bullous tinea pedis, one due to Trichophyton rubrum in a 6-year-old child and the second due to T. interdigitale in a 10-year-old child.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Onychomycosis

The mycological examination isolated Trichophyton mentagrophytes.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] , peripheral vascular disease, hyperhidrosis and psoriasis.[onlinelibrary.wiley.com] Two patients suffering from tinea faciei incognito caused by Trichophyton rubrum are presented.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Tinea Cruris

By using mycological and histological examinations, dermatophytosis caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. mentagrophytes was confirmed.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] In cases with local hyperhidrosis, anti-perspiration agents such as 20% aluminum chloride can be used in the long term.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Trichosporon beigelii was the most common fungus isolated from the environment, followed by Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, Candida[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Tinea Barbae

His two children had suffered from tinea manus 3 months previously, also caused by the zoophilic fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes probably acquired from guinea-pigs.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] We report a case of tinea barbae caused by an uncommon agent Trichophyton rubrum, misdiagnosed as sycosis, and review the approach and management of the disease.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Tinea barbae due to Trichophyton rubrum with possible involvement of autoinoculation.[scielo.br]

Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. quinckeanum is a zoophilic form of T. mentagrophytes.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Molecular markers reveal exclusively clonal reproduction in Trichophyton rubrum.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] RESULTS: Trichophyton rubrum was the most frequently isolated dermatophyte (12.1%), followed by Trichophyton mentagrophytes (7.7%) and Trichophyton tonsurans (4.4%).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Trichophyton mentagrophytes is the dermatophyte species most commonly reported in cases of guinea pig-associated dermatophytosis (or guinea pig fungus) a condition that more[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Cultural examination lead to the identification of Trichophyton rubrum species.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] From the epidemiological point of view, Trichophyton rubrum is the most important dermatophyte in the Western world.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
