683 Possible Causes for Lupus-Like Syndrome

  • Drug-induced Lupus Erythematosus

Ustekinumab might be a useful treatment option for patients with a history of TNF-induced lupus-like syndrome.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Drug-induced lupus erythematosus (DILE) is a lupus-like syndrome temporally related to continuous drug exposure which resolves upon drug discontinuation.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The terms drug-induced lupus (DIL) and drug-induced lupus erythematosus (DILE) are preferred, but other ones are also used--drug-related lupus, lupus-like syndrome, and lupus[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Acne Vulgaris

We describe an adolescent boy who developed hyperthyroidism and a drug-induced lupus-like syndrome following minocycline treatment for his acne.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The only conclusion that we could make was that people treated with minocycline for acne are at a significantly greater risk of developing an autoimmune (lupus-like) syndrome[cochrane.org] There have also been rare reports of a minocycline-induced lupus-like syndrome.[brownskin.net]

  • Drug-induced Fever

TNF-alpha inhibitors may cause a lupus-like syndrome that has low complements and anti-dsDNA. 2.[clinicaladvisor.com] It results from medications that induce production of autoantibodies and a lupus-like syndrome that can be systemic, cutaneous, or vasculitic in nature.[clinicaladvisor.com] "Lamotrigine-induced lupus-like syndrome: a case report and literature review".
