81 Possible Causes for Lymphocytosis, Normocytic Normochromic Anemia, Pruritus

  • Myeloproliferative Disease

RBCs: -Normocytic normochromic anemia -mild poikilocytosis -polychromatophilia & NRBCs -DACROCYTES WBCs: -Initial leukocytosis with immature neutrophils (BANDS) Platelets:[] Common symptoms include: headaches blurred vision fatigue weakness dizziness itchiness (pruritus) night sweats raised blood pressure (hypertension).[] Constitutional symptoms, such as weight loss, fever, and pruritus, also can occur.[]

  • Primary Myelofibrosis

Normocyticnormochromic anemia is present in most, but not all, patients (see Table 91–2). 7–15,262–265 Mean hemoglobin concentration in a series of patients at diagnosis[] Primary myelofibrosis (PMF)-associated pruritus is often severe and requires treatment.[] Additionally, lymphocytosis with typical lymphocytes and some Gumprecht shadows were present.[]

  • Hepatosplenomegaly

Blood count showed normocytic normochromic anemia (hemoglobin, 8.6 g/dL), low WBC (leukocytes, 3.640/μL), and thrombocytopenia (platelets, 70.000/μL).[] We present a 4.5-year-old boy who developed fever, vomiting, diarrhea, lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, lymphocytosis, anemia, thrombocytopenia, and increased liver enzymes[] Amyloidosis may be associated not only with Hepatolienal syndrome, but also, more rarely, with the advent of cholestatic jaundice and pruritus,.[]

  • B-Cell Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) is a rare syndrome characterized by a normochromic normocytic anemia and the absence of mature erythroid precursors in an otherwise normocellular[] In these trials patients with lymphocytosis 5000/microl were excluded.[] The patient began chemotherapy with chlorambucil and intravenous human immunoglobulin, which resulted in total regression of the lesions as well as the pruritus.[]

  • Malignant Neoplasm

We require the diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) to be documented by evidence of a chronic lymphocytosis of at least 10,000/mm3 for 3 months or longer, or other[]

  • Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia

Laboratory tests A complete blood count in WM exhibits leukopenia, normocytic normochromic anemia, and thrombocytopenia.[] The presence of small lymphocytes in serous cavity fluid can pose great difficulty in the differentiation between a low-grade lymphoproliferative disorder and reactive lymphocytosis[] Fatigue related to normochromic normocytic anemia is the most common presenting symptom.[]

  • Hodgkin's Disease

She remained with a low level of pruritus until her death in July 2008, at the same dose of thalidomide.[] […] weeks primigravida was referred from the Emergency Department to the Medical Unit Khyber Teaching Hospital-MTI, Peshawar with four weeks of fever, progressive jaundice, pruritus[] Integumentary: Diffuse pruritus may appear because of lymph stasis. Head and Neck: Most patient may present with painless cervical lymphadenopathy.[]

  • Multiple Myeloma

Her pruritus resolved, but the lesions persisted. Footnotes Competing interests: None declared. This article has been peer reviewed.[]

  • Aleukemic Leukemia

A normocytic, normochromic anemia generally develops as the disease progresses. The platelet count is usually normal. c. Acute Myelogenous Leukemia .[] Peripheral blood smear showed prominent leukocytosis (white blood cells, 37.3 10 9/L) with dysplastic granulocytes, monocytosis (4.1 10 9/L), eosinophilia (4.5 10 9/L), absolute lymphocytosis[] Two patients each received imatinib with no response, 2 received dasatinib (one [positive for KITD816V mutation] had significant improvement in hepatosplenomegaly and pruritus[]

  • Pancytopenia

Anemias were then classified morphologically into four groups - normocytic normochromic, microcytic hypochromic, macrocytic, and dimorphic.[] Number of leukocytes is also reduced, especially number of granulocytes (granulocytes more than lymphocytes, that's why "relative lymphocytosis" occurs).[] Autoimmune hepatitis may occur with symptoms of pancytopenia, fatigue, malaise, anorexia, nausea and pruritus.[]
