27 Possible Causes for Muscle Biopsy Shows Nemaline Rods

  • Nemaline Myopathy

    Muscle biopsy showed rods and other typical findings suggesting nemaline myopathy.[] A repeat muscle biopsy in one patient did not show histological progression.[] Histopathology shows characteristic nemaline rods in the muscle biopsy.[]

  • Secondary Myopathy

    A muscle biopsy was done, which showed features suggestive of nemaline rod myopathy [Figure 1] a-d.[]

  • Distal Myopathy

    Vastus lateralis muscle biopsies revealed non-specific chronic myopathic features with a few nemaline rods.[] Whole body muscle MR imaging showed more fatty replacement in the distal limb and tongue muscles than in the proximal limb and axial muscles.[]

  • Myopathy

    Post-treatment muscle biopsy showed fewer nemaline bodies and muscle magnetic resonance image depicted a pronounced reduction of muscular edema.[] The muscle biopsy revealed intracytoplasmic aggregates with appearance of nemaline rod bodies with Gomori trichrome staining and electron microscopy in most fibers.[] A muscle magnetic resonance image showed bilateral fatty infiltration and post-contrast enhancement in the arm and thigh muscles.[]

  • Adult-Onset Nemaline Myopathy

    A muscle biopsy revealed degeneration of muscle fibres. Electron microscopy showed loss of thick filaments as well as nemaline rods, vacuoles and cytoplasmic bodies.[] (a) Deltoid muscle biopsy with trichrome Gomori staining shows small fuschinophilic intracytoplasmic corpuscles (whitearrows) in some muscle fibers.[] RESULTS A muscle biopsy showed mild myopathic changes.[]

  • Oculopharyngodistal Myopathy

  • Classic Multiminicore Myopathy

    Ultrastructural analysis of muscle biopsies.[] Ultrastructural analysis of the biopsy from patient ARX30 revealed myofibrillar disorganization, Z-line streaming of adjacent sarcomeres (arrows), and prominent nemaline rods[] The biopsy of patient IM26 showed large disorganized areas around internalized nuclei, the longitudinal muscle section of AKY21 revealed prominent Z-band streaming.[]
