3 Possible Causes for Papillomatosis over Affected Area

  • Acanthosis Nigricans

    Usually asymptomatic, occasionally, the affected areas may itch. Papillomatosis (multiple finger-like growths) is common on cutaneous and mucosal surfaces.[] The skin changes appear slowly, sometimes over months or years as hyperpigmented macules and patches that progress to palpable plaques.[]

  • Lymphedema

    Radial enlargement, however, is usually progressive if treatment is not instituted. 24 With time, skin changes are seen over the affected area; the skin becomes thicker (hyperkeratosis[] ) and rougher (papillomatosis) and skin turgor is increased 34, 35 ( Figure 2 ).[]
