102 Possible Causes for Patient Appears Acutely Ill, Salmonella Typhi

  • Salmonella Infection

We present a case of enteric fever in which both Salmonella Typhi and Salmonella Paratyphi A were isolated from the blood of a patient traveling from India.[] Histopathology of the mass was suggestive of thymoma and culture from the necrotic aspirate yielded Salmonella typhi.[] Osteoarticular infections caused by Non-typhi Salmonella are exceptionally encountered.[]

  • Urinary Tract Infection

Enteric fever caused by Salmonella Typhi is a global public health problem.[] We report a case of isolated urinary Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi in an HIV-positive man who has sex with men.[] Although there is some existing literature on Salmonella typhi bacteriuria and non-typhoidal bacteriuria, none of the cases has been reported in a renal transplant patient[]

  • Salmonella Food Poisoning

Salmonella Typhi is shed and can be spread by both actively ill persons and latent carriers.[] Although this is very rare in the United States, the disease, which is caused by the salmonella typhi strain, could result in fatal injuries if left untreated.[] The specific bacterial form causing this condition is called the Salmonella Typhi bacteria. • Testicular Abscess

It was only after pus culture and sensitivity report that Salmonella typhi was discovered to be the causative organism.[] Testicular abscess caused by Salmonella typhi. • Splenic Abscess

The patient was well developed and well nourished and did not appear acutely ill. Temperature was 100 F.; pulse 90; blood pressure 140/80.[] Splenic abscesses caused by Salmonella typhi are a very rare complication of typhoid fever in this era of use of specific antibiotics.[] Splenic abscess due to Salmonella enterica Serotype typhi in a young adult.[]

  • Cholelithiasis

Patients with acute ascending cholangitis are usually ill-appearing and septic.[] Salmonella typhi and Helicobacter sp. were not detected in bile from any GBC patients.[] Patients with choledocholithiasis or gallstone pancreatitis will also require admission to hospital, gastrointestinal (GI) consultation and ERCP or MRCP.[]

  • Breast Abscess

Enteric fever is an acute systemic febrile infection caused by Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi. Breast abscess due to S. typhi infection is a rare sequelae.[] We report a case of bilateral breast abscess due to Salmonella Typhi in an unmarried 35-year-old female without any predisposing conditions.[] We report here a classical case of Salmonella typhi infection in a rare clinical form of a breast abscess in a non-lactating immuno-compromised female.[]

  • Escherichia Coli

The outbreak strains, when incubated at 22 degrees C or exposed to ampicillin, lost the lipopolysaccharide O antigen and began to react with antisera against Salmonella typhi[] O111 contained 4 additional plasmids, including a large multidrug resistance plasmid very similar to plasmid R27 of Salmonella typhi and a PP plasmid nearly identical to bacteriophage[] Also common to all three sequenced strains is a pilus similar to Stf of Salmonella enterica serotypes Typhimurium and Typhi and to the Mrp pilus of Proteus mirabilis, a confirmed[]
