372 Possible Causes for Retinal Pigment Present

  • Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Lung

The lesion was extending from the internal limiting membrane to the retinal pigment epithelium.[] Accompanying subretinal fluid was present, and no extension of the lesion into the choroid could be detected.[]

  • Familial Adenomatous Polyposis

FAP may present some extraintestinal manifestations such as osteomas, dental abnormalities, congenital hypertrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium (CHRPE), desmoid tumors[] pigment epithelium (CHRPE).[] This is an eye condition that is present at birth that does not affect vision, but it is a condition that an eye doctor may see during an examination with a special instrument[]

  • Conjunctivitis

  • Glaucoma

[…] in the present study, suggesting that our induction protocol induced human iPSCs into the neural retinal lineage but not into the RPE lineage ( Fig. 2a ).[] Mitf, a microphthalmia-associated transcription factor and the master regulator of melanocyte and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) development 50, was not highly expressed[]

  • Cronkhite-Canada Syndrome

In some patients, benign pigmented lesions can be seen in the retina, known as congenital hypertrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium (CHRPE).[] It is not specific for FAP, but when multiple bilateral lesions are present, it should prompt for screening for FAP. 4.2.2.[]

  • Macular Degeneration

She presented with visual distortion in her right eye and was found to have a retinal pigment epithelial detachment (RPED) on optical coherence tomography (OCT).[] Neovascular vessels can be seen on en face images of the retina, both below and above the retinal pigment epithelium, corresponding to different types of leakage observed[] In age-related macular degeneration (AMD), pathological changes in individual retinal layers, including photoreceptor inner and outer segments and retinal pigment epithelium[]

  • Peripheral Vasoproliferative Retinopathy

Retinal pigment epithelial hyperplasia may be observed at the edge of the tumours and is present in over half of the secondary tumours. 8 Figure 1 A vasoproliferative tumour[] Note the peripheral location, extensive subretinal exudate, and associated retinal pigment epithelial changes.[] Sub and intraretinal exudation, which can be extensive, occurs in more than 80% of the cases. 8 Exudative retinal detachment is present in approximately 50% of lesions. 8[]

  • Retinitis Pigmentosa

RESULTS: All patients presented with slowly progressive peripheral field loss and initial clinical examination revealed only subtle retinal changes.[] (RP) belongs to the group of pigmentary retinopathies, a generic name that covers all retinal dystrophies presented with a loss of photoreceptors and retinal pigment deposits[] There was a notable lack of intraretinal pigment migration in all patients.[]

  • Lentigo Maligna Melanoma

Melanoma can also present in the eye, associated with the retinal pigment epithelium. 1-3 Desmoplastic Melanoma Desmoplastic melanoma ( Figure 9 ) is a rare subtype of melanoma[] Patients can present with bleeding or a mass lesion.[]

  • Myopic Macular Degeneration

, lacquer cracks and thinning of the retinal pigment epithelium.[] However, the vitreo-retinal traction that was still present prevented the retina from laying down and, consequently, these two forces might actually lead to tissue dehiscence[] […] clumping, and sometimes hyperpigmentation in association with fibrosis and retinal atrophy is present.(13) Among myopic patients with pre-existing CNV, more than 30% will[]
