82 Possible Causes for Trichophyton Mentagrophytes, Trichophyton Rubrum

  • Tinea Pedis

The identification of Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. nodulare is described, based on a strain recently isolated from tinea pedis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Recombinant dermcidin was determined to have antimycotic activity against Trichophyton rubrum, as evaluated by colony-forming unit (CFU) assays.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] We report here two cases of bullous tinea pedis, one due to Trichophyton rubrum in a 6-year-old child and the second due to T. interdigitale in a 10-year-old child.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Onychomycosis

The mycological examination isolated Trichophyton mentagrophytes.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Two patients suffering from tinea faciei incognito caused by Trichophyton rubrum are presented.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] RESULTS: Of 149 specimens, 142 (95.3%) were positive for Trichophyton rubrum or Trichophyton mentagrophytes including Trichophyton interdigitale by PCR, while only 104 (69.8%[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Dermatomycosis

Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. quinckeanum is a zoophilic form of T. mentagrophytes.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Molecular markers reveal exclusively clonal reproduction in Trichophyton rubrum.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] RESULTS: Trichophyton rubrum was the most frequently isolated dermatophyte (12.1%), followed by Trichophyton mentagrophytes (7.7%) and Trichophyton tonsurans (4.4%).[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Tinea Barbae

His two children had suffered from tinea manus 3 months previously, also caused by the zoophilic fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes probably acquired from guinea-pigs.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] We report a case of tinea barbae caused by an uncommon agent Trichophyton rubrum, misdiagnosed as sycosis, and review the approach and management of the disease.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Tinea barbae due to Trichophyton rubrum with possible involvement of autoinoculation.[scielo.br]

  • Tinea Corporis

Trichophyton mentagrophytes is the dermatophyte species most commonly reported in cases of guinea pig-associated dermatophytosis (or guinea pig fungus) a condition that more[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Cultural examination lead to the identification of Trichophyton rubrum species.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] From the epidemiological point of view, Trichophyton rubrum is the most important dermatophyte in the Western world.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Tinea Imbricata

Indian Journal of Dermatology 57(4): 288-290, 2012 Tinea corporis due to Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Trichophyton tonsurans mimicking tinea imbricata.[eurekamag.com] Mycosis fungoides with tinea pseudoimbricata owing to Trichophyton rubrum infection. • Tinea Capitis

In case of inflammatory forms (predominantly kerion) caused by Trichophyton verrucosum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes ID reaction was manifested by disseminated follicular[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Tinea capitis is rare in adults, particularly when the infectious agent is Trichophyton rubrum, and affected patients often exhibit comorbidities associated with diminished[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Furthermore, Trichophyton rubrum as a causative organism of tinea capitis is documented very rarely.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Tinea barbae and Tinea capitis

Tinea capitis due to Trichophyton erinacei Tinea capitis due to Trichophyton gourvilii Tinea capitis due to Trichophyton megninii Tinea capitis due to Trichophyton mentagrophytes[healthprovidersdata.com] To investigate the morphology of Trichophyton rubrum in the human hair apparatus, two cases of tinea capitis and one case of tinea barbae were examined by light- and electron[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Currently, in most cases, the causative organisms are zoophilic ectothrix, namely, Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Trichophyton verrucosum , acquired from animals.[link.springer.com]

  • Majocchi's Granuloma

We report a case of Majocchi's granuloma caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes on the vulva in a 23-year-old girl who had used topical steroids for many years.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The clinical diagnosis was Majocchi's granuloma and onychomycosis caused by the Trichophyton rubrum var. raubitschekii.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] The aim of this article is to describe the case of a patient who developed severe edematous lesions of the lower extremities from a mycosis infection with Trichophyton mentagrophytes[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

  • Deep Dermatophytosis

We isolated Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. interdigitalis from the lesions. The biopsy showed suppurative deep dermatophytosis and folliculitis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] This article describes a patient who was immunosuppressed with deep dermatophytosis caused by Trichophyton rubrum and concurrent disseminated nocardiosis.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Since the identification of Trichophyton mentagrophytes complex had been misused for years, a brief discussion of molecular diagnosis and taxonomy of T. mentagrophytes complex[link.springer.com]
