Weight gain due to quinine

Does drinking tonic water which contains quinine in place of daily water drinking will result in cinchonism?

A standard glass contains roughly 20 mg of quinine (homemade products may contain higher doses) and already with a few glasses per day, cinchonism and thrombocytopenic purpura may occur, varying from person to person. Also some illnesses can increase the risk. It is not advisable to replace the daily water intake with tonic water.
