L4 spinous process complete detachment

My L4 spinous process has been completely broken off and floating for years (sports or fall), I’ve learned yesterday. I am not in pain at the moment in lower back but in neck. Should I go for L4-5 fusion now or could I wait till I am in really bad pain? How risky is avoiding this surgery? I only swim, garden and do crafts. My second cervical fusion surgery is imminent so I am debating which one I need now. Please advise. Thank you very much!

The treatment depends on the exact location of the fracture, the severity and on which part of the spinous process bone is broken. Consult your neurologist or neurosurgeon for advice.
