Presentation
We are going to present this case in the journal because of its rarity. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Entire Body System
- Fatigue
Side effects of crizotinib mostly consist of grade 1-2 gastrointestinal events (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation), grade 1-2 edema and fatigue; grade 1 visual disorders, rare cases of elevated liver enzymes and pneumonitis. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Like many other types of cancer, lung cancer may also cause systemic symptoms, like loss of appetite or general fatigue. [cancercenter.com]
Some of the more common paraneoplastic syndromes that can be caused by non-small cell lung cancer include: High blood calcium levels (hypercalcemia), which can cause frequent urination, thirst, constipation, nausea, vomiting, belly pain, weakness, fatigue [cancer.org]
He had been experiencing lightheadedness, fatigue and dyspnea on exertion for 1 week prior to his admission. He has a history of hypertension and remote hip surgery, but no significant family history or allergies. [oatext.com]
Some people with lung cancer have chest pain, frequent coughing, blood in the mucus, breathing problems, trouble swallowing or speaking, loss of appetite and weight loss, fatigue, or swelling in the face or neck. [ghr.nlm.nih.gov]
- Weight Loss
Abstract A 40-year-old previously healthy male presented with acute onset painless dimness of vision in both eyes since the past week and low-grade fever, anorexia and weight loss for the past 1 month. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
The most common symptoms of lung cancer are: A cough that does not go away or gets worse Coughing up blood or rust-colored sputum (spit or phlegm) Chest pain that is often worse with deep breathing, coughing, or laughing Hoarseness Weight loss and loss [cancer.org]
Early symptoms of SCLC: Persistent cough Chest pain that gets worse with deep breathing, laughing or coughing Hoarseness Unexplained loss of appetite and weight Coughing up blood or rust-colored phlegm Shortness of breath Feeling weak and/or tired Bronchitis [cancercenter.com]
Symptoms such as coughing up blood and unintentional weight loss may prompt further investigation, such as medical imaging. [en.wikipedia.org]

Symptoms of paraneoplastic syndromes include muscle cramps, muscle weakness, elevation of calcium in the blood and clubbing, which refers to a change in the shape of the finger tips. [cancercenter.com]
Of 50 metastatic tumors of nonpulmonary origin, focal weak reactivity was noted only for 1 metastatic ovarian carcinoma. All mesotheliomas were nonreactive. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Recognizing this "competition" for glutamate as a weakness, the research team showed that the experimental drug CB-389 stopped tumor growth in mice with KRAS and KEAP1 mutations by cutting off the glutamate supply. [medicalxpress.com]

Nine days after lung surgery, he developed a fever with dry cough, chest tightness, and muscle pain. A nucleic acid test for COVID-19 came back as positive. [ascopost.com]
On physical examination, she was hemodynamically stable and had no fever. Her body mass index was 22.9kg/m2. She had an aortic systolic murmur on cardiac auscultation. [elsevier.es]
We present the case of a 58-year-old man who was seen in the emergency department of our hospital for symptoms of pleuritic pain in the right hemithorax, low-grade fever and hemoptoic expectoration. [archbronconeumol.org]
- Lymphadenopathy
Her breast was tender on examination and did not have any associated cervical or axillary lymphadenopathy. Her mammography revealed thickening of the skin, increased parenchymal markings and shrinkage the breast. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Superior right hilar lymphadenopathy. Pathology report from bronchoscopic biopsy. [radiopaedia.org]
He was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism (PE) in the right basal pyramid and a left parahilar mass infiltrating the left main pulmonary artery and tracheal carina; he also had bilateral mediastinal lymphadenopathies (Fig. 1). [archbronconeumol.org]
There was no pleural or pericardial effusion, nor detectable mediastinal or hilar lymphadenopathy. [synapse.koreamed.org]
Characterizing a mass as malignant, however, is often straightforward because it invades and crosses tissue planes, is associated with effusions and lymphadenopathy, or has visibly metastasized (Figure 11A). [onlinejacc.org]
Respiratoric
- Cough
When lung cancer does cause signs in its early stages, they may vary from person to person but commonly include: A new cough that is persistent or worsens, or a change in an existing chronic cough Cough that produces blood Pain in the chest, back or shoulders [cancercenter.com]
The most common symptoms of lung cancer are: A cough that does not go away or gets worse Coughing up blood or rust-colored sputum (spit or phlegm) Chest pain that is often worse with deep breathing, coughing, or laughing Hoarseness Weight loss and loss [cancer.org]
After 6-month use of imatinib, the patient suffered from dry cough and dyspnea. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
In order of highest frequency, the most common signs of lung cancer include: cough that does not go away or gets worse weight loss dyspnea (shortness of breath or difficulty breathing) chest pain, which may be aggravated by deep breathing, coughing, or [en.wikipedia.org]
- Dyspnea
After 6-month use of imatinib, the patient suffered from dry cough and dyspnea. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
A 43-year-old male presented to the hospital with midsternal chest pain, dyspnea and diaphoresis along with a syncopal episode. He had been experiencing lightheadedness, fatigue and dyspnea on exertion for 1 week prior to his admission. [oatext.com]
A 69-year-old woman with metastatic breast cancer presented to the hospital with a 5-day history of progressive dyspnea. On examination, the patient had tachycardia and an oxygen saturation level of 91% while breathing ambient air. [cmaj.ca]
There have been occasional reports of ventricular dysfunction with resultant dyspnea and fatigue (125,126). [onlinejacc.org]

Patients with recurring or unresolving lung infections (e.g. bronchitis and pneumonia) that are unresponsive to antibiotics should also be further evaluated for lung cancer. [en.wikipedia.org]
Workup
As pathologists manage these specimens, they need to minimise the amount of tissue used for diagnostic workup and preserve as much material for molecular testing as possible [ 1, 16, 22 ]. [doi.org]
Workup was also done for ruling out hypercoagulable state due to mutations and it was negative. CT scan of abdomen and pelvis showed a mass in the ascending colon (Figure 2) and CT head was negative. [oatext.com]
No further diagnostic workup was pursued until he was admitted with intractable pain. Eventual biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma, likely of pulmonary origin. [hindawi.com]
A detailed medical history should be obtained from each patient to determine the relevance of further diagnostic workup and management. Adenocarcinoma, like other forms of lung cancer, is usually advanced or metastatic at time of diagnosis. [en.wikipedia.org]
X-Ray
- Pericardial Effusion
Chest computed tomography imaging examination revealed an irregular thickened pericardium with large amounts of pericardial effusion and a small pleural effusion. [spandidos-publications.com]
The constellation of pericardial effusion and right atrial mass is worrisome for angiosarcoma (103). [onlinejacc.org]
There was no pleural or pericardial effusion, nor detectable mediastinal or hilar lymphadenopathy. [synapse.koreamed.org]
Treatment
