Eye implant technology is also another area of intense interest for AMD at present. [fightingblindness.ie]
Taken together all these findings showed poor postural stability in patients with AMD, particularly under eyes open condition; the novelty of the present study was to explore further AMD pathology (i) unilateral vs. bilateral AMD (ii) and the effect of [frontiersin.org]

Swelling
As these new blood vessels grow in the wrong place, they cause swelling and bleeding underneath the macula, hence the name Wet AMD. [fightingblindness.ie]
Treatment
There is currently no treatment for dry AMD but treatments are available for wet AMD that are aimed at maintaining the vision for as long as possible. [visionaustralia.org]
However, if the damage has been left for a long time and scarring has already taken place, these treatments may not work well. Your eye doctor will determine if you are suitable for treatment and discuss the most suitable treatment plan for you. [fightingblindness.ie]
These authors suggested that mechanoreceptors sensibility decreases with aging as well as the capacity of treatment of sensorial information by the central nervous system. [frontiersin.org]
Epidemiology

Prevention
The injections aim to reduce the progression of the disease and prevent further loss of vision. In some cases, vision may improve. The desired outcome is to prevent the growth of new abnormal blood vessels in the retina. [visionaustralia.org]
There are research efforts underway to look at ways of preventing the early stages of macular degeneration such as the development of drugs that may slow the build-up of toxic material. [fightingblindness.ie]
An early postural rehabilitation care would prevent the risk of falling and in the future, studies leading with postural, and/or visual training will be necessary to improve the everyday life. Postural balance changes throughout life. [frontiersin.org]
