Presentation
A case history is presented which complements the growing literature in this area. A depressed patient with persistent orofacial dyskinesia was placed on amoxapine and experienced a suppression of her involuntary movements. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Entire Body System
- Fever
When the patient was re-exposed to amoxapine (52.5 mg total dose), high fever, reduced SaO(2) and pulmonary infiltrates reappeared. We concluded that acute respiratory distress may be associated with amoxapine treatment. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Check with your doctor right away if you are having convulsions (seizures); difficulty with breathing; a fast heartbeat; high fever; high or low blood pressure; increased sweating; loss of bladder control; severe muscle stiffness; unusually pale skin; [mayoclinic.org]
Fever. Enlarged breasts. Nipple discharge. Not able to get or keep an erection. For women, no period. Trouble controlling body movements, twitching, change in balance, trouble swallowing or speaking. [drugs.com]
Call your doctor at once if you have: skin rash with fever; uncontrolled muscle movements in your face (chewing, lip smacking, frowning, tongue movement, blinking or eye movement); pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest; little or no urination [everydayhealth.com]
Asendin should be discontinued if rash ard/or fever develop. [bonkersinstitute.org]
Respiratoric
- Pleural Effusion
Ten days later she developed a high fever, severe hypoxaemia and pulmonary infiltrates on chest CT, including patchy areas of ground-glass opacity, thickening of the interlobular septae and bronchial walls and pleural effusions. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Eyes
- Miosis
Amitriptyline significantly reduced salivation and it significantly attenuated both miosis evoked by locally applied pilocarpine and sweat secretion evoked by locally applied carbachol. Amoxapine did not significantly alter any of these measures. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Musculoskeletal
- Myopathy
Since mitochondrial disorders can cause multisystem failure, including encephalopathy, renal tubular dysfunction, and myopathy, a transient, toxic disorder of mitochondrial function was considered as the basis for the patient's clinical and MRI changes [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Neurologic
- Seizure
Two patients are described who experienced seizures while on therapeutic doses of amoxapine. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Involuntary Movements
A depressed patient with persistent orofacial dyskinesia was placed on amoxapine and experienced a suppression of her involuntary movements. The therapeutic implications of this observation are discussed. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Motor symptoms such as tremor, parkinsonism, involuntary movements, reduced ability to move one's voluntary muscles, etc.Unknown incidence or relationship to drug treatment adverse effects include: Thrombocytopenia a significant drop in platelet count [en.wikipedia.org]
• Patient may develop with increased risk of involuntary movements; if so consult with your doctor. • It may develop increased risk of suicidal thoughts in children and teenagers; watch them carefully. • Most Frequent : Drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation [medindia.net]
Older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug, especially drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, constipation, trouble urinating, and involuntary movements (tardive dyskinesia). [rxoutreach.org]
- Motor Symptoms
Despite its apparent lack of extrapyramidal side effects in patients with schizophrenia it has been found to exacerbate motor symptoms in patients with Parkinson's disease and psychosis. [en.wikipedia.org]
Urogenital
- Retrograde Ejaculation
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and side effects of amoxapine in treating retrograde ejaculation (RE). Methods: Totally 25 RE patients who were treated in our reproduction center were included into this study. [tau.amegroups.com]
OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy and safety of amoxapine and vitamin B12 for treating retrograde ejaculation (RE). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Workup
This is a report of a previously normal 9-year-old child who presented with generalized tonic clonic seizures that led to an extensive workup for primary generalized epilepsy. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
X-Ray
- Pulmonary Infiltrate
Amoxapine was stopped, resulting in complete resolution of the pulmonary infiltrates. When the patient was re-exposed to amoxapine (52.5 mg total dose), high fever, reduced SaO(2) and pulmonary infiltrates reappeared. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Serum
- Thrombocytosis
No cause for this thrombocytosis was apparent. Granulocytes appeared in the peripheral blood on the 15th day, and the thrombocytosis abated with the platelet count returning to a normal level by day 22. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Pleura
- Pleural Effusion
Ten days later she developed a high fever, severe hypoxaemia and pulmonary infiltrates on chest CT, including patchy areas of ground-glass opacity, thickening of the interlobular septae and bronchial walls and pleural effusions. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Treatment
Of the six patients treated, two improved dramatically within the first week of treatment, whereas for the remaining four treatment had to be discontinued due to lack of efficacy or side effects. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
Abstract After 1990's, the development of new generation anti-cancer agents produced encouraging improvement of prognosis in inoperable or relapsed stomach cancer and colorectal cancer. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

To prevent any kind of negative interaction, make sure you inform your doctor of any drugs you are taking including non-prescription medication, OTCs, health supplements like vitamins, minerals, herbal medicine, drinks with caffeine and alcohol, illegal [internationaldrugmart.com]
This may help prevent a possible worsening of your condition and reduce the possibility of withdrawal symptoms such as headache, nausea, or a general feeling of discomfort or illness. [mayoclinic.org]
These medications can help prevent suicidal thoughts/attempts and provide other important benefits. [rxoutreach.org]
Induce emesis with ipecac if patient is conscious; follow with gastric lavage and activated charcoal to prevent further absorption. Dialysis is of little use. [glowm.com]
