Plasmodium Falciparum
All presented to the traditional healer with symptoms of malaria and had a Plasmodium falciparum parasitaemia 2000/microl but no signs of severe malaria. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Extracts of each plant were tested in vitro for their antimalarial activity on a strain of Plasmodium falciparum resistant to chloroquine. [antenna.ch]
Thus, 80 patients were included, of whom 80% were aged Plasmodium falciparum parasitaemia 2000/μl but no signs of severe malaria. [doi.org]

Gram-Positive Bacteria
Sanguinarine is a quaternary benzophenanthridine alkaloid with a strong bactericidal effect on Gram-positive bacteria ( Rao and Dave, 2001 ). It also displays anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic activities. [ejbiotechnology.cl]
Treatment
Both treatments were well tolerated. Over 28 days, second-line treatment was not required for 89% (95% CI 84.1-93.2) of patients on AM, versus 95% (95% CI 88.8-98.3) on ACT. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
There had been no standard frequency or duration of treatment. [doi.org]

Prevention
If prevention is no longer possible, it is best to treat the weed infestations when they are small to prevent them from establishing (early detection and rapid response). Controlling the weed before it seeds will reduce future problems. [keys.lucidcentral.org]

Preventive Measures The only preventive measure is to refrain from using oil which has not been tested for quality. A campaign is required to educate about the risk of consuming unpackaged mustard oil. [web.archive.org]
Prevention and control Eradication Alemayehu and Desalegn (2016) recommended that the Bureau of Agriculture, other GOs and NGOs of Ethiopia develop mechanisms to eliminate the species from agricultural and grazing lands. [plantwise.org]
