Presentation
presentation of the initial symptoms two months previously. [spandidos-publications.com]
All subjects were diagnosed with laryngeal cancer at presentation except for the subject #2. This subject was presented with a neck mass of unknown primary and underwent neck dissection at first and had radiotherapy. [scielo.br]
We present here a case of BSCC in a 36 year female arising in the paranasal sinus with orbital and intracranial extension. Clinical and pathological findings including immunohistochemistry is presented along with brief discussion of literature. [alliedacademies.org]

On clinical observation, the tumor frequently presents as an exophytic mass that may have ulcerations, [ 5 ] in the case presented, however, the tumor was deep in the tonsil, and completely hidden on physical examination. [omicsonline.org]

Pain
• The lesion clinically appears as a fungating mass or ulcer and may be painful or interfere with swallowing. • Approximately two- third of cases are diagnosed at an advanced clinical stage. 7. • As its name connotes basaloid squamous cell carcinoma [slideshare.net]
However, the patient experienced recurrence half a year later and presented with a painful mass of the right cheek without enlarged lymph nodes on palpation. [spandidos-publications.com]

There was no history of odynophagia, hoarseness, fever or weight loss. On clinical examination there was a 4 cm hard, fixed and non tender mass in left II-III ganglionar group levels. [omicsonline.org]
Case Reports Case 1 (BSCC) A 52-year-old man was admitted to University Medical Center Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany, with a 6-month history of an unexplained weight loss of 12 kg. [academic.oup.com]
It is more common in older men, who present with dysphasia, odynophagia, and weight loss, similar to the symptoms caused by squamous cell carcinoma. [karger.com]

Hematochezia
A 70-year-old man presented with loose stool and intermittent hematochezia 2 months ago. Colonoscopy showed an ulceroinfiltrative mass on the rectosigmoid colon from 16 cm to 18 cm above the anal verge. [synapse.koreamed.org]
Workup
Metastasis workup was negative and laboratory tests were within normal ranges. Pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed an enhancing heterogeneous mass measuring 24 18 mm located in the cervix. [intjcancermanag.com]
Because of the incidence of DM and the possibility of salvage and long‐term survival with metastases, we also recommend a more thorough diagnostic workup, including at least a chest computed tomography scan, at baseline and during follow‐up. [onlinelibrary.wiley.com]
Treatment
Two subjects (subjects #11 and #13) had previous treatment for laryngeal carcinoma. Subject #13 had concomitant chemo-radiotherapy and recurrence seven months after the initial treatment. [scielo.br]
Patients had received treatment with surgery or radiation. Patients with metastatic disease were excluded. [ascopost.com]
Therefore, multimodal treatment is considered to be important for AEBSCC and some reports have stated that aggressive treatment of metastatic sites led to long-term survival [ 18, 19 ]. [bmcgastroenterol.biomedcentral.com]
Three years following treatment the patient remains free from tumor recurrence. [spandidos-publications.com]
Results Across each cohort, patients with BSCC more often had high-grade tumors and treatment with lymph node dissection. [jamanetwork.com]
Prognosis
On the other hand, BSCC is frequently considered a high-grade carcinoma of poorer prognosis than its SCC counterparts, mostly due to a higher rate of distant metastases. [jcp.bmj.com]

It is considered to have a poor prognosis due to its aggressive behavior and tendency to metastasize. [spandidos-publications.com]
Our objective was to evaluate the prognosis of BSCC as compared to the usual SCC in the largest series of cases. [ascopubs.org]
We should further pay close attention to the future prognosis of BSCs. [peerj.com]
Etiology
• Etiology and pathogenesis of basaloid squamous cell carcinoma is similar to conventional squamous cell carcinoma. • Most patients have a long history of smoking and alcohol drinking. • In some cases there was a history of previous radiation to the [slideshare.net]
The role of viruses in the etiology of BSCC is still controversial, but many authors have reported a higher frequency of human papillomavirus and herpes simplex virus in basaloid tumors than in conventional SCC.[ 4 ] The origin for BSCC has been suggested [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
