Presentation
We present 2 cases of arthroscopic removal of a calcific deposition in the form of calcinosis circumscripta between the labrum and capsule of the hip joint. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Calcinosis cutis was diagnosed by FNA in a 20-yr-old male who presented with a solitary subcutaneous nodule near the ankle, on the lateral malleolus. [scinapse.io]
Case presentation: 33-year-old male presented to OPD with swelling over the right knee joint. Clinically the swelling was adhered to skin, bony hard, tender, and movements of right knee were painful. [docksci.com]
If there is an associated underlying collagen vascular disease findings of soft tissue swelling and joint arthropathy may be present. Promoted articles (advertising) [radiopaedia.org]

- Recurrent Infection
The indications for surgery included painful lumps, recurrent infection of the calcified masses, secreting ulcers, functional disorders, severe esthetic problems, and pressure on nerves. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Musculoskeletal
- Myopathy
She denied having had any previous complaints compatible with myopathy. [scielo.br]
Eidelman et al. (11) hypothesized, that a loss of local inhibitors caused mineral deposition in inflammatory myopathies. [medicaljournals.se]
At age 10 yr, muscle biopsy showed an inflammatory myopathy. Serum creatine phosphokinase (CPK) level was approximately 12,600 U/L (normal, 30–220 U/L). [academic.oup.com]
Skin
- Insect Bite
In addition, trauma, insect bites, metabolic calcification (e.g. renal failure), and inherited disorders (e.g., pseudoxanthoma elasticum, Werner’s syndrome, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) may cause calcinosis circumscripta [ 5 ]. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

- Subcutaneous Mass
A 2.5-y-old, male common marmoset ( Callithrix jacchus jacchus ) developed a 2-cm, interscapular, subcutaneous mass with variably firm and cystic areas. [ingentaconnect.com]

Soft tissue calcifications may be easily demonstrated on plain radiographs, but CT scan is more effective in demonstrating the location and extent of calcifications. [sajr.org.za]

B, Age 19 yr, soft tissue calcifications have significantly diminished. [academic.oup.com]
This type of calcification can occur as a response to any soft tissue damage, including that involved in implantation of medical devices. [en.wikipedia.org]

Treatment
Especially in young patients, with a high activity level and without any symptoms of hip osteoarthritis, hip arthroscopy is the ideal treatment. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
Thibierge-Weissenbach syndrome or as the CREST syndrome, because the manifestations usually consist of calcinosis cutis, Raynaud's phenomenon, esophageal dysfunction, sclerodactyly, and telangiectasia .Patients with this syndrome often have a better prognosis [dermaamin.com]
The prognosis is usually bad. Calcinosis circumscripta has a benign course and occurs in middle-aged women. The deposits are small, nodular or streaky and affect the flexor tendon sheaths of hands and wrist. [ispub.com]
Etiology
It is classified into 4 major types according to etiology: dystrophic, metastatic, iatrogenic, and idiopathic. [ajnr.org]
The etiology is unknown, and onset of the lesion is slow and insidious. It occurs in the periarticular area as a painful mass with surrounding erythema and edema. It is visible in x-rays as localized, scattered calcification. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Based on the etiology of the deposition calcinosis cutis may be devided into four major groups namely metastatic, dystrophic, idiopathic, and iatrogenic. The pathophysiology of calcinosis cutis remains unclear. [ingentaconnect.com]

Pathophysiology
The pathophysiology of calcinosis cutis remains unclear. The dystrophic form is the most common whereas the idiopathic one is the rarest. [ingentaconnect.com]

Prevention
Your skin Holds body fluids in, preventing dehydration Keeps harmful microbes out, preventing infections Helps you feel things like heat, cold, and pain Keeps your body temperature even Makes vitamin D when the sun shines on it Anything that irritates [icdlist.com]
Diltiazem is thought to work by preventing the laying down of new calcium, but this cannot explain the additional re‐absorption of existing calcium. [academic.oup.com]
It prevents the release of proinflammatory cytokines. It also reduces calcium turnover and resorption. Bisphosphonates show good response mainly in dermatomyositis and systemic sclerosis. Etidronate is used at 800 mg/d. [statpearls.com]
