Presentation
Present study aimed to establish the chemical composition of sewage sludge leachate before/after calcium oxide-based solidification using energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
NTP: No component of this product present at levels greater than or equal to 0.1% is identified as a known or anticipated carcinogen by NTP. [americanelements.com]
Calcium oxide is used to make calcium hydroxide, as a cheap alkali for treating acid soil, and in extractive metallurgy to produce a slag with the impurities (especially sand) present in metal ores. CaCO 3 (s)⇌CaO(s)+CO 2 (g) Subjects: Chemistry. [oxfordindex.oup.com]
Gastrointestinal
- Vomiting
Ingestion: DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING! Give large quantities of water or milk if available. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical attention immediately. [hazard.com]
Additionally it can also result in abdominal pain, nausea, burns with perforation of the nasal septum, and vomiting. When quicklime reacts with water it can release enough heat to even ignite combustible materials. [byjus.com]
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Give large quantities of water. Skin contact: Wipe off excess material from skin then immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. [bonelossandyou.com]
- Nausea
Additionally it can also result in abdominal pain, nausea, burns with perforation of the nasal septum, and vomiting. When quicklime reacts with water it can release enough heat to even ignite combustible materials. [byjus.com]
It may then evolve into burns with perforation of the nasal septum, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Although quicklime is not considered a fire hazard, its reaction with water can release enough heat to ignite combustible materials. [en.wikipedia.org]
Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting may result. May cause serious alkali burns in mouth and throat. Skin Contact: Irritant; may cause severe corrosive damage. Eye Contact: Severe irritant, may damage eye tissues. [hazard.com]

Skin
- Flushing
After pH measurement on day 48 the vials were flushed with CO2 and the pH measured again at days 53 and 68. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Skin contact: Wipe off excess material from skin then immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. [bonelossandyou.com]
Label First Aid: In case of contact, immediately flush eyes or skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. If swallowed, DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. [hazard.com]
Skin: If this chemical contacts the skin, immediately flush the contaminated skin with water. If this chemical penetrates the clothing, immediately remove the clothing and flush the skin with water. Get medical attention promptly. [cameochemicals.noaa.gov]
Eyes
- Blurred Vision
Causes redness, tearing, blurred vision, pain. Chronic Exposure: Chronic inhalation of dust may cause inflammation of the respiratory passages, ulcers of the mucous membranes, and possible perforation of nasal septum. [hazard.com]
Neurologic
- Agitation
If the lime has to be put into lime slurry, a lime slurry tank can be requested and equipped with a slurry agitator and a water supply control valve. To transport the lime slurry solution we use pumps. [sodimate-inc.com]
Figure 5 shows similar results to those in Figure 4 for composition 2 and in addition shows that even more beneficial results are obtained by agitation of the quench tank using nitrogen. [patents.google.com]

Prevention
In both cases, after the reaction has completed, the hot quicklime should be left in a container filled with a neutral gas, such as nitrogen, to prevent the oxide from reacting with water vapors or carbon dioxide. Oxygen can also be used. [sciencemadness.org]
Skin Protection: Wear impervious protective clothing, including boots, gloves, lab coat, apron or coveralls, as appropriate, to prevent skin contact. [hazard.com]
Depth to lime accumulation in relation to annual rainfall Lime (CaCO 3 ) deposits that can prevent the penetration of plant roots are found deeper in the soil profile in climates with higher mean annual rainfall than in climates where there is little [britannica.com]
(ERG, 2016) Protective Clothing Skin: Wear appropriate personal protective clothing to prevent skin contact. Eyes: Wear appropriate eye protection to prevent eye contact. [cameochemicals.noaa.gov]
