Presentation
Clonorchiasis usually presents with chronic gastrointestinal disturbances or cholangiocarcinoma. We describe a rare acute presentation of clonorchiasis in a child with diarrhea and liver abscess. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Ultrasound examination showed swelling and edema around the pancreas but no cysts, pseudocysts or gallstones. Stool examination was negative for ova and parasites. [aafp.org]
Clinically, clonorchiasis and opisthorchiasis are indistinguishable from one another as they both produce symptoms of chills, diarrhoea, fever, lower abdominal pain, jaundice, swelling of the liver, and malnutrition. [doi.org]

As the infection progresses and the worm burden increases, oedema of the face, abdominal wall, and lower limbs occurs, as well as ascites and generalised abdominal pain. Anorexia, nausea, and vomiting are also common. [patient.info]
- Nausea
A 54-year-old Korean woman suffered from hypersensitive reactions, such as nausea, dyspnea, rash, and urticaria after taking the first dose of praziquantel to treat clonorchiasis. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
The common symptoms of clonorchiasis include jaundice, liver tenderness and enlargement, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, and anisakiasis. [biology-online.org]

- Enlargement of the Liver
The abdominal discomfort may be attributed to enlargement of the liver, and very rarely cholangitis or cholangiocarcinoma which develop as complications. [1,2,3,4,5] Diarrhea Watery diarrhea may also develops in some cases. [explainmedicine.com]
Microbiology
- Fasciola Hepatica
Human infection of Fasciola hepatica, a cattle flukes, may occur inadvertently, and the flukes migrate in the liver (hepatic phase) and reside the bile ducts (biliary phase). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Treatment
The present results confirm that DDIHD and IPDE persist but FEFGB decreases significantly at 1 year after treatment. In a heavy endemic area, the sonographic finding of FEFGB may suggest active clonorchiasis 1 year after treatment. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
BACKGROUND: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma caused by clonorchiasis (CICC) has a poor prognosis, and there have been insufficient studies regarding risk and prognostic factors. We aimed to identify CICC-associated factors. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis Light infections may resolve spontaneously within one year, even without treatment. However the prognosis may be grave in patients with heavy infection. Immunocompromised hosts may be at an increased risk of complications. [patient.info]
This practice must be strictly eliminated to prevent Clonorchiasis What is the Prognosis of Clonorchiasis? (Outcomes/Resolutions) A proper and timely diagnosis and treatment can lead to a good prognosis. [dovemed.com]
Association of C. sinensis infection with CCA CCA, usually with poor prognosis, is a primary hepatic malignancy arising from bile duct epithelium and ranks the second most common primary hepatic malignancy[ 73 – 75 ]. [idpjournal.biomedcentral.com]
Etiology
Certain conditions have both an underlying etiology and multiple body system manifestations due to the underlying etiology. [icd10coded.com]
Cholangiocarcinoma was related to clonorchiasis, which suggested an etiological role for the parasite. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
(Etiology) Clonorchiasis is a foodborne infection caused by Clonorchis sinensis or Chinese liver fluke, a parasitic worm which grows and resides in the bile ducts of the liver in humans and fish-eating mammals. [dovemed.com]
Epidemiology
By analysis of epidemiological data, we found that the ecologic environment was favorable for the epidemiology of clonorchiasis. Most patients with clonorchiasis were lack of knowledge about the disease. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Pathophysiology
Clonorchiasis pathophysiology Clonorchiasis is infection with the liver fluke Clonorchis sinensis. Infection is acquired by eating undercooked freshwater fish. [omicsonline.org]
In this article, the radiologic findings, including cholangiography, sonography, and CT of clonorchiasis are reviewed in light of the pathophysiology of the disease. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Pathophysiology Adult forms of C. sinensis live in the bile ducts. Eggs are passed in the stool and ingested by snails. Cercariae (free-swimming larvae) released from infected snails subsequently infect a variety of freshwater fish. [merckmanuals.com]
Prevention
Praziquantel is the treatment of choice and has been considered for preventive chemotherapy. Tribendimidine showed good safety and therapeutic profiles in phase 2 trials and warrants further investigation. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
