Large Intestine Adenoma

Presentation

The results are presented in the following text, also taking into account our own experience and the current S3 guidelines. RESULTS: Endoscopic resection samples are one of the specimens most frequently assessed by pathologists. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

As for the location of adenomas, other authors reported no differences between the right and left colon11, which matches the findings in the present study. [scielo.org.co]

The studies presented in the annual meeting of the American Gastroenterological Association 2008 show that the results of current surveillance strategies can be improved with a view to reducing the rate of interval neoplasia. [elsevier.es]

Description of the intervention At present, there is no consensus on how dietary fibre should be defined. [cochranelibrary.com]

Entire Body System

  • Familial Adenomatous Polyposis

In contrast, secondary prevention focuses on the surveillance and follow-up of patients with an average or high risk of developing the disease, such as 50 years of age or older, family history of CRC, familial adenomatous polyposis, or inflammatory bowel [scielo.org.co]

Workup

Colonoscopy

  • Polyps

Two hundred sixty-six patients with colorectal polyps and 461 resected polyps were identified, characterizing 125 (27%) as non-adenomatous polyps (Table 2). In 32% of patients, more than one adenoma was resected. [scielo.org.co]

We aimed to evaluate this association for all relevant different histological polyp subtypes (i. e., hyperplastic polyps [HPs], sessile and traditionally serrated adenomas, clinically relevant serrated polyps, nonadvanced and advanced adenomas) in an [thieme-connect.com]

Treatment

There is a need to demonstrate that the effect of treatment on a surrogate endpoint predicts the effect of treatment on the true endpoint (i.e. CRC). [cochranelibrary.com]

Epidemiology

METHODS: Literature databases (PubMed) were searched selectively for the keywords 'colorectal adenoma', 'epidemiology', and 'resection techniques'. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

A search of all epidemiologic studies published between 1970 and 1988 was carried out. The authors critically assessed 23 case‐control studies, 15 correlation studies, two cohort studies and three time‐trend studies. [cochranelibrary.com]

Prevention

As the precursor lesion is known and can be detected easily, efficient screening strategies are available for a reliable prevention of colorectal adenocarcinoma, e.g. by colonoscopy. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
