When present in the bladder they are referred to as cystitis cystica. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Often, when no treatable underlying condition is present, the appearance remains stable over time 4. [radiopaedia.org]
We present a case of a 63 year old Sudanese woman with a history of repeated attacks of right loin pain in whom magnetic resonance urography (MRU) showed multiple filling defects in the right ureter. [cyberleninka.org]

Treatment
Treatment and prognosis Usually no treatment is required for ureteritis cystica per se, but rather the underlying cause of chronic infection may need treatment, e.g. nephrolithiasis. In such cases, the condition may resolve. [radiopaedia.org]
Treatment of the underlying cause and watchful observation are the mainstays of management. The case presented is unique because it presented with acute renal colic. Footnotes Author Contributions Wrote the first draft of the manuscript: BPF, MFLG. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Our patient was managed conservatively after treatment of the renal calculus. Conclusion Ureteritis cystica is a benign condition often secondary to underlying urological diseases like urolithiasis or chronic UTI. [cyberleninka.org]
Prognosis
Treatment and prognosis Usually no treatment is required for ureteritis cystica per se, but rather the underlying cause of chronic infection may need treatment, e.g. nephrolithiasis. In such cases, the condition may resolve. [radiopaedia.org]
Etiology
Etiology Ureteritis cystica results from chronic urinary tract irritation due to stones and/or infection. Organisms frequently involved include: Escherichia coli (most common) Mycobacterium tuberculosis Enterococcus Proteus spp. [radiopaedia.org]
The etiology is unclear but the diagnosis has become much easier to make with the routine use of ureteroscopy for diagnosis of ureteric lesions. [cyberleninka.org]
It is considered of the result of irritation in nonspecific chronic inflammations.1 Other etiological factors that have been postulated include bilharziasis, vitamin A excess and increased immunoglobulin A. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
