In the present study, we report the case of an epidural AM in a 55-year-old female. The clinical manifestation, radiological findings, treatment and outcome of the patient are presented. [spandidos-publications.com]
The majority of patients present with motor deficits as a result of compression of the spinal cord. Less common presentations include sensory deficits, pain and sphincter dysfunction. [radiopaedia.org]
Calcification was mainly due to psammoma bodies, and it was present in 8 of the 10 psammomatous meningiomas. [ajnr.org]
Acknowledgments We thank the patient and his caregivers for their involvement in the present study. [frontiersin.org]
Entire Body System
- Swelling
Characteristics include red or dark patches on the skin; burning, itching, swelling, hardening, and tightening of the skin; yellow spots on the whites of the eyes; joint stiffness with trouble moving or straightening the arms, hands, legs, or feet; pain [emedicine.medscape.com]
Psychiatrical
- Aggressive Behavior
Epidural spinal meningiomas show more aggressive behavior than intradural meningiomas.21 Most epidural meningiomas, especially the en plaque type, often adhere to the dura. [ajnr.org]
Neurologic
- Meningism

It manifests as linear thickening and contrast enhancement of the meninges adjacent to the meningioma. In the current study, 13 (93%) meningiomas showed the dural tail sign on contrast-enhanced T1-weighted images. [ajnr.org]
Prevalence Meningioma is a primary central nervous system (CNS) tumor originating from the meninges, a membrane surrounding the brain or spinal cord. Although it is often benign, there is still a high incidence of its occurrence. [frontiersin.org]
Treatment
Melissa Yu, professor and director of the ADMDC at Baylor, will discuss the basics of Alzheimer’s disease, including symptoms, diagnosis and current treatments. She will also present new research that could lead to promising new treatments. Dr. [bcm.edu]

Treatment and prognosis Spinal meningiomas are typically slow-growing. Surgery is the treatment of choice and complete tumor removal is achieved in the vast majority of patients. Less than 10% experience recurrence 2. [radiopaedia.org]
Surgical Treatment Intraspinal masses represent the potential clinical symptoms that need surgical treatment to remove all the tumors as soon as possible to achieve the purpose of spinal canal decompression. [frontiersin.org]

If complete resection is performed, there may not be any difference observed in the patient’s prognosis, while partial resection can lead to a higher probability of recurrence (24, 32). [frontiersin.org]
The prognosis after surgical resection is excellent. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] From 2004 to 2010, there were 7,148 newly diagnosed cases of spinal meningioma (age adjusted incidence, 0.33/100,000 population). [emedicine.medscape.com]

Still, according to some theories, the etiology of these tumors suggests that the origin may be from (1) aberrant arachnoid islets that are positioned in the extradural space, (2) islands of arachnoidal tissue that migrated into the extradural space, [frontiersin.org]

Prevention
For intracranial and intraspinal meningiomas, tumor recurrence may be prevented by total removal of the tumor and dural attachment (1,2). [spandidos-publications.com]
The dura mater attached to the tumor is burned or coagulated, followed by removing and reconstructing through artificial dural, which can prevent the recurrence (13). [frontiersin.org]
