Presentation
Presentation as a fulminant orbitopathy with rapidly progressive optic neuropathy and vision loss over several hours has not been previously reported. [experts.umn.edu]
Mononeuropathies The presentation of CH in peripheral nerves presenting as mononeuropathies is rare. In some conditions also the term neuroleukemiosis has been suggested [ 21 ]. [omicsonline.org]
Rarely it may present as intravascular tumor aggregates called granulocytic sarcoma which presents as intracranial hemorrhage. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
A small hypodense lesion measuring 1 cm was present in the lower pole of left kidney. [ijpmonline.org]
The patient was in complete remission from leukemia when he presented obstructive jaundice due to a pancreatic mass consisting of myeloblasts. [miami.pure.elsevier.com]
Entire Body System
- Fever
CASE REPORT A 74-year-old Hispanic woman from Ecuador presented to the emergency department with a five-day history of fever, jaundice, and right upper quadrant abdominal pain. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
A 21-year-old boy presented with complaints of low-grade fever and right-sided flank pain of two-week duration to the surgery out patient department of this hospital. Physical examination revealed a vague right-sided lumbar mass. [ijpmonline.org]
However, a month after surgery, she was readmitted for fever, neutropenia, and pneumonia -- which resulted in her death about 1 month later (that is, 2 months postoperatively). Figure 2 Hematoxylin and eosin [H&E], 40X. [jcancer.org]
Ewing's sarcoma a malignant tumor of the bone that arises in medullary tissue, usually found in cylindrical bones, with pain, fever, and leukocytosis as prominent symptoms; called also Ewing's tumor. immunoblastic sarcoma of B cells an aggressive B-cell [medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com]
There were six episodes of fever of unknown origin and two episodes of neutropenic fever. [nature.com]
- Fatigue
Case 363 was from a 70-year-old man who had weakness and fatigue. The BM revealed AML without increased eosinophils. Conventional cytogenetic studies showed 46,XY,t(2;4)(p11.2;q12[18]/46,XY[2]. [doi.org]
Case 221 occurred in a 5-year-old boy who had pallor, fatigue, fever, and chest and joint pain in November 2006. CT scans showed multiple lytic bone lesions in the ribs, scapula, sternum, and skull. [academic.oup.com]
- Infectious Mononucleosis
Notably, when the patient was 12 years old, she had undergone splenectomy for massive splenomegaly and thrombocytopenia associated with infectious mononucleosis. [academic.oup.com]
- Intravenous Administration
On computed tomographic scans, isodense or hyperdense lesions can be appeared, edema and necrosis are variable and there is uniform enhancement following intravenous administration of contrast material 6). [kjim.org]
Respiratoric
- Respiratory Distress
Other Grade 3–4 toxicities were as follows: arrhythmia, three patients; pulmonary edema, one patient; adult respiratory distress syndrome, one patient; hyperbilirubinemia, three patients; elevated serum creatinine, one patient, mucositis, one patient; [nature.com]
Gastrointestinal
- Hematochezia
His hematochezia responded rapidly to induction chemotherapy and the patient remained in complete remission after 3-month follow-up. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Skin
- Ulcer
There was no associated tenderness, ulceration, or rise of temperature. FNA was done from both the swellings. [mjdrdypu.org]
Past Ocular History : Significant for mild myopia and a history of corneal ulcers secondary to contact lens use. No prior trauma or surgeries. Past Medical History: Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (FLT3-mutated, trisomy 8) reportedly in remission. [webeye.ophth.uiowa.edu]
Histologic examination of debrided tissue from the foot ulcer demonstrated large, immature, mitotically active cells infiltrating the soft tissue. [academic.oup.com]

Workup
It may present at any stage of AML and requires appropriate workup and treatment, though generally carries a poor prognosis. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
MS share morphological features similar to non-Hodgkins lymphoma and both express certain markers, such as CD43 and CD45. [2] An inadequate workup may lead to confounding diagnosis. [pediatricneurosciences.com]
Presence of musculoskeletal complaints in leukemic patient should alert the attending trauma surgeon to carry out rigorous diagnostic workup for associated and underlying pathology. [joas.in]
As the initial presentation was consistent with pelvic malignancy, workup for gynecologic and urologic malignancy was done. Cervical and endometrial biopsies were negative for malignancy, and bladder wash was suspicious for malignant cells. [hematologyandoncology.net]
Treatment
[…] year-old woman with relapsed acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) undergoing salvage chemotherapy developed rapid onset of right-sided ophthalmoplegia, proptosis, optic neuropathy, and vision loss from 20/30 to hand motions over a 3-hour period on day 4 of her treatment [experts.umn.edu]
Development of a treatment plan for GS in poor responders involves a systemic leukemia plan as novel therapeutics have not been investigated for treatment GS per se, but used more widely for AML. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
This form of myeloid sarcoma is distinguished by its highly successful treatment with imatinib (the recommended treatment for FIP1L1-PDGRGA fusion gene-induced eosinophilic leukemia) rather than more aggressive and toxic therapy. [en.wikipedia.org]
Prognosis
In spite of the fact that t(8;21) is considered to be associated with good prognosis, patients with GS and spinal cord compression had less favorable prognosis than other AML patients with t(8;21). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
the occurrence of GS frequently is associated with acute transformation of the disease and therefore a poor prognosis. 6 The most common sites of involvement are bone, soft tissue, lymph nodes, and skin. [mdedge.com]
Etiology
Further studies confirmed the etiology of the tumor. On control ultrasonography, a marked decrease in tumor size 15 days after treatment was revealed. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Epidemiology
Epidemiology [ edit ] References: [1] Most frequently develop in the setting of AML but can occur with CML and MDS. Incidence of 2.5-9.1% in AML. Most common locations: skin, soft tissue, bone, periosteum, lymph nodes. [en.wikibooks.org]
To define clinical characteristics, epidemiology, pathologic findings, treatment options and outcomes in MS. We conducted a retrospective review of 23 patients diagnosed with MS at our institute over a period of 13 years (2002-2015). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Epidemiologically, MS has an incidence of 2/1.000.000 in the adult population 7,17 and is described in approximately 2.5 to 9.1% of patients with AML 1,3,11,14,15. [scielo.mec.pt]
Pathophysiology
Pathophysiology of MS remains poorly understood, however altered homing mechanisms for myeloid lineage blasts have been implicated. [doi.org]
Prevention
An understanding of how extramedullary granulocytic sarcoma of the heart appears on MDCT may decrease or prevent delays in diagnosing this uncommon, although important, complication from AML. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
The addition of immunohistochemical stains can assist in preventing such misdiagnoses and should be included in all atypical lymphoma/carcinoma cases. [doi.org]
