The present study is the first systematic screening for HPA in a defined population of ethnic Chinese. In 2004-2005, 533 out of around 750 medical students of The University of Hong Kong took part in a questionnaire-based screening. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
People with developmental prosopagnosia are described as being unable to recognise familiar faces and that this neurological impairment has been present from the time of birth. [d2l.deakin.edu.au]
Oxford University Press, ٠٣/١٢/٢٠٠٩ - 416 من الصفحات This book presents a comprehensive survey of perceptual expertise in visual object recognition, and introduces a novel collaborative model, codified as the "Perceptual Expertise Network" (PEN). [books.google.com]

- Falling
Glenn Alperin started showing face recognition problems after a fall from his crib at 16 months. “I didn’t realize it so much when I was a child, but I was constantly confused,” he says. [theatlantic.com]
Scores on the questionnaire have been shown to effectively distinguish previously classified DPs from typical observers falling within the normal range of abilities [ 6, 19, 20 ]. [rsos.royalsocietypublishing.org]

Over the last fifty years, research on prosopagnosia, along with research in the healthy population, has provided insights into the cognitive and neural features behind typical face recognition. [books.google.com]

- Visual Impairment
These patients were compared to a control group who had had no previous visual-impairment and the results indicated that deprivation of facial visual input at birth led to permanent deficits in configural facial processing – the spacing of facial features [medsaint.com]

Treatment
She includes a history of early treatment and current drug and psychotherapy treatments, and explains how diet, blood sugar, and food sensitivities or allergies can play a role. [books.google.com]
Management and treatment There is no cure for PCA. Medications like acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, are available and might bring relief for some symptoms. [orpha.net]
Treatment As of right now, we don’t have clear treatments for those who suffer from prosopagnosia. All of the treatment goes into trying to figure out strategies that will help compensate the inability to recognize faces. [blog.cognifit.com]

Prognosis
Prognosis Prognosis is poor as PCA is progressive disorder. Life expectancy after PCA diagnosis is thought to be similar (8-12 years) or superior at times compared to individuals affected with Alzheimer's disease. [orpha.net]
We will look at the population in danger and the prognosis of it in the future. That’s how we are going to go around with prosopagnosia as well. As mentioned before, prosopagnosia is face blindness. People lose their ability to recog nize faces. [blog.cognifit.com]

Etiology
Etiology Etiology is unknown. [orpha.net]
Comparison of hereditary and acquired prosopagnosia types The hereditary and acquired types have a completely different etiology. [flipper.diff.org]
Epidemiology
Beside a few single case reports and anecdotal mentioning of familial cases no data on the epidemiology exists. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Summary Epidemiology Prevalence is unknown, largely due to the lack of awareness of the syndrome and the inaccurate terminology referring to it. Clinical description All patients with PCA show impairment in at least one basic visual process. [orpha.net]

Doyle also spoke about the importance of detecting persons suffering Prosopagnosia, but did not address any methods of treatment, cure, prevention or further research into the disorder. [neurosciencefundamentals.unsw.wikispaces.net]
