Presentation
Two patients with masses of the urinary bladder presented with gross hematuria. The third patient presented with left flank pain and a mass encasing the left ureter causing hydronephrosis. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
The presentation is nonspecific and depends on the organ involved. [orpha.net]
Gastrointestinal
- Abdominal Mass
This study reported a very rare case of urachal IMT in an elderly female patient at the age of 77 who was diagnosed with a lower abdominal mass 2 months ago. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Retroperitoneal IMT typically grows slowly and may present as a solid abdominal mass, accompanied by abdominal pain and weight loss. [spandidos-publications.com]
Physical examination showed mild abdominal tenderness in the hypogastrium, but no palpable abdominal mass. Abdominal CT scan showed a mass of approximately 7 cm, between stomach and liver. [link.springer.com]
- Left Flank Pain
The third patient presented with left flank pain and a mass encasing the left ureter causing hydronephrosis. The fourth patient presented with a painless, growing palpable mass of the left hemiscrotum. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Suprapubic Pain
A 71-year-old woman was admitted to our department for massive visible hematuria lasting for 2 h; she had urgency, frequency, suprapubic pain, and dysuria. She had cystitis 2 times during the last 3 months. [urologyannals.com]
Musculoskeletal
- Upper Back Pain
A 76-year-old Korean man presented with a history of upper back pain for 2 months and motor weakness in both lower extremities for 2 days. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Short Arm
This protein overexpression is a result of ALK gene rearrangements on the short arm of chromosome 2 (2p23). The ALK gene may fuse with the clathrin heavy chain, tropomysin 3 (TPM3-ALK) or tropomysinn 4 (TPM4-ALK). [omicsonline.org]
Skin
- Eruptions
Herein we present a 25-year-old male with a 3-month history of refractory stomatitis especially involving the lips and widespread vesiculobullous eruption on his trunk and extremities. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Neurologic
- Convulsions
A pediatric patient with IMT who presented with cough, breathlessness, polyuria-polydipsia, and convulsions is described in this report. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Workup
Provides all the necessary tools to make a comprehensive diagnostic workup including data from ancillary techniques and molecular findings whenever appropriate. [books.google.de]
The results of tissue cultures, autoimmune, and hypercoagulable workups were negative. Figure 3. [circ.ahajournals.org]
Metastatic workup, including a chest CT scan and radionuclide bone scan, was negative. Following multidisciplinary consultation, laparotomy was performed via a left subcostal incision. [spandidos-publications.com]
Initial imaging workup showed multifocal brain lesions and large left lung mass. [cureus.com]
[…] seen in 15–30% of patients, and laboratory evaluation may reveal microcytic anaemia, a raised erythrocyte sedimentation rate, thrombocytosis, and/or polyclonal hypergammaglobulinaemia. 9 10 In some cases, the mass may be found only after an extensive workup [doi.org]
X-Ray
- Pleural Mass
Contrast-enhanced computed tomography of his chest and abdomen showed a large heterogeneous pleural mass involving the right fifth rib and vertebral body and a mass infiltrating the right renal hilum. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Treatment
Tumor resection is the treatment of choice in IMT. Such tumor location is associated with the high risk of perioperative failure. Steroid therapy and chemotherapy is reported in the literature as a nonsurgical treatment alternative. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
We also discuss the various surgical and non-surgical treatment options and the prognosis associated with this disease. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Etiology
Multiple enlarged lymph nodes in an elderly female patient can have varied etiologies as well as histologic pictures. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Pathophysiology
In this article we review the pathophysiology, genetics, clinical presentation, imaging findings of IMT of the lung. We also discuss the various surgical and non-surgical treatment options and the prognosis associated with this disease. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Prevention
Despite a high incidence of tuberculosis, we must consider the possibility of PIMTs in such cases to prevent misdiagnosis and mistreatment. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Awareness of this finding can prevent one from misdiagnosing dedifferentiated liposarcoma as inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor, a much less aggressive neoplasm. [experts.umich.edu]
Early and complete surgical resection of the mass provides cure and prevents local recurrence. 2 6 Role of radiation therapy and chemotherapy has not been clearly defined. In conclusion, IMT can undergo sarcomatous transformation rarely. [ispub.com]
However, in this patient, total removal of the lesions did not prevent early tumor recurrence, suggesting the aggressive biological behavior of the lesion. Such early recurrence has been described in patients with IMT in other organs. [neurologyindia.com]
