Presentation
The patient we present was initially thought to have pulmonary tuberculosis, and when found to have Klebsiella pneumoniae, the suggested treatment was monotherapy with ceftriaxone. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Six of the 17 cases presented with clinical symptoms of infection, while 11 were identified as be carriers. [ecdc.europa.eu]
Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) primarily causes hospital-acquired infections, commonly presenting as pneumonia. The incidence of K. pneumoniae infection is high compared to other hospital-acquired infections. [vaccinesforamr.org]

Treatment
Monotherapy is just as effective as a combination treatment in Klebsiella pneumoniae because newer agents are used. In the past, older agents with less anti-Klebsiella activity were needed for effective treatment. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Treatment Klebsiellainfections can be dangerous, so doctors start treatment with antibiotics right away. Examples include cephalosporins (cefotaxime and ceftriaxone) and carbapenems (imipenem or cilastatin). [webmd.com]
If a doctor notices that a bacterial infection persists after the initial treatment, they may order tests to identify the specific bacteria responsible. The results help them choose the most appropriate antibiotic treatment. [medicalnewstoday.com]
Klebsiella organisms are resistant to multiple antbiotics, This is thought to be a plasmid- mediated property, Treatment depends on the organ system involved. [researchgate.net]
Prognosis
Despite a poor prognosis, the patient recovered, but remains colonized with the pan-resistant isolate. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
When doctors identify K. pneumoniae in samples quickly and prescribe the appropriate antibiotics right away, the prognosis improves. However, delays in diagnosis and testing are common, and this can lead to a less favorable prognosis. [medicalnewstoday.com]
Etiology
[citation needed] Also, it is known as Friedlander's bacillum in honor of Carl Friedländer, a German pathologist, who proposed that this bacterium was the etiological factor for the pneumonia seen especially in immunocompromised individuals such as people [en.wikipedia.org]

Prevention
Prevention Preventing pneumonia in children is an essential component of a strategy to reduce child mortality. Immunization against Hib, pneumococcus, measles and whooping cough (pertussis) is the most effective way to prevent pneumonia. [who.int]
