Presentation
The patient presented with a 4-year history of a progressively growing painless and fixed mass in the left paratid gland region. [spandidos-publications.com]
In contrast to liposarcoma, neither lipoblasts nor isolated atypical hyperchromatic cells within mature fat, as are seen in well-differentiated liposarcoma, were present. [pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Frequently present in the upper trunk / back of the neck in adults. Have genomic alterations at 8q11-13. Lack the ability to metastasize. Must contain lipoblasts. Show a predilection to metastasize to other soft tissue sites. [pathologyoutlines.com]
Psychiatrical
- Suggestibility
Guillou et al(2) reviewed 100 extrapleural SFTs and encountered 13 neoplasms that characteristically contained islands of mature fatty tissue, and suggested that LHPC does not correspond to a well-defined entity, but rather is representative of a fat-containing [spandidos-publications.com]
[…] achieving negative margins is significantly diminished and the risk of local recurrence, dedifferentiation (DDL) and death are increased Lesions are best regarded as true sarcomas and the terminology of "well differentiated liposarcoma" is more appropriate Suggestion [pathologyoutlines.com]
Treatment
The most common treatment for LHPC is complete local surgical excision. [spandidos-publications.com]
