Presentation
A 28-year-old woman presented to hospital after an episode of severe lower back spasms that occurred during a stressful family gathering. She had a history of progressive difficulty bending forward and increasing lumbar lordosis. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Entire Body System
- Disability
BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Many radiological parameters have been reported to correlate with patient's disability including sagittal vertical axis (SVA), pelvic tilt (PT), and pelvic incidence minus lumbar lordosis (PI-LL). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Skin
- Flushing
In cases of multilevel anterior cervical spine decompression where intervening vertebral bodies need to be incorporated into the anterior plate construct, it may be difficult to apply the plate flush against the entire anterior cortical surface of the [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Musculoskeletal
- Neurogenic Claudication
In the radiculopathy and neurogenic claudication groups, all radiographic parameters were significantly changed after TLIF except for segmental LL and PI in both groups and pelvic tilt in the radiculopathy group. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Loss of Lumbar Lordosis
The lumbar lordosis showed a highly significant loss of 12.5 degrees from the intraoperative prone position to the postoperative standing position, with the average lumbar lordosis intraoperatively (67 degrees) decreasing to a standing lumbar lordosis [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Osteophyte
Presence of radiologic ASP (RASP) was based on observed changes in anterior osteophytes, disks, and calcification of the anterior longitudinal ligament on lateral radiographs. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Psychiatrical
- Distractibility
In situ bending imparted the largest loads intraoperatively with an average of 1060 ± 599.9 N, followed by compression/distraction (971 ± 534.1 N) and cantilever bending (705 ± 413.0 N). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Neurologic
- Myelopathy
BACKGROUND CONTEXT: In cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM), cervical sagittal alignment (CSA) is associated with disease severity. Increased kyphosis and C2-C7 sagittal vertical axis (SVA) correlate with worse myelopathy and poor outcomes. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Radiculopathy
In the radiculopathy and neurogenic claudication groups, all radiographic parameters were significantly changed after TLIF except for segmental LL and PI in both groups and pelvic tilt in the radiculopathy group. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Spastic Quadriplegia
Two children with spastic quadriplegia who developed excessive lumbar lordosis after selective dorsal rhizotomy are described. The rhizotomy did not change the ambulatory status of either child (one nonambulator, one household ambulator). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Treatment
In the treatment group 1, statistically significant differences were found in all X-ray markings. Twenty-nine of 35 members have a lordosis after treatment compared to 11 of 35 before treatment. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Most people with lordosis don’t require medical treatment unless it’s a severe case. Treatment for lordosis will depend on how severe your curve is and the presence of other symptoms. [healthline.com]
Treatment for lordosis may include: Medication to relieve pain and swelling Exercise and physical therapy to increase muscle strength and flexibility Wearing a back brace Weight loss Surgery Treatment for kyphosis may include: Exercise and anti-inflammatory [webmd.com]
Etiology
The etiology and treatment of this disorder is still a matter of debate. Our case further throws more light on the pathogenesis and treatment of this disorder. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prevention
CONCLUSIONS: Improved lumbar lordosis is correlated with a lower incidence of ASD, and adequate disc height and segmental lordosis restoration are essential for ASD prevention. Copyright © 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Bracing can help prevent the curve from getting worse. Surgery. If the curve is severe and is getting worse, surgery is sometimes needed. Body casting. A cast is placed from the shoulders to the lower trunk while the child is under anesthesia. [webmd.com]
Treating lordosis now can help prevent complications later in life, such as arthritis and chronic back pain. [healthline.com]
