Entire Body System
- Anorexia
He denied orthopnea, chest pain, palpitations, fevers, night sweats, nasal stuffiness or congestion, sinus headaches; weight loss, anorexia, joint pains, skin rash, and urinary complaints. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Soft Tissue Mass
tissue: Manifests as an irregular enhancing soft tissue mass on contrast enhanced CT (Radiographics 2011;31:1923) Breast: Nonspecific and may show a solitary ill defined uncalcified mass on mammography Heterogeneous mass of low signal intensity of T1 [pathologyoutlines.com]
Cardiovascular
- Chest Pain
Case report A 56-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with chest pain for 3 days, accompanied with chest tightness and mild fever. The chest pain could be relieved after resting. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Workup
X-Ray
- Mediastinal Mass
It also revealed a non-homogeneous mass in the anterior mediastinum (Fig. 3). A CT-guided biopsy of the mediastinal mass was inconclusive. Thoracoscopic biopsy of the mediastinal mass (Fig. 4) was consistent with angiosarcoma. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Treatment
Treatment was classified into four groups: treatment without chemotherapy or radiotherapy (e.g. surgery or hormonal treatment), chemotherapy without radiotherapy, radiotherapy without chemotherapy, and combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy. [nature.com]
These tumors are very aggressive and have a poor response to treatment modalities including surgical resection, chemotherapy, and radiation. Consequently, they carry a poor prognosis. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
Tumor size less than 5 cm in diameter and tumors with a lymphoid infiltrate has been reported to be associated with a better prognosis [10]. 4. Conclusion Angiosarcomas are aggressive tumors with poor prognosis. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Etiology
Etiology is unknown in most cases A minority arise after radiation exposure or longstanding lymphedema (Stewart-Treves syndrome) Angiosarcoma is associated with exposure to vinyl chloride, arsenic and thorium dioxide (Thorotrast) Small numbers occur [pathologyoutlines.com]
Surgical resection is the acceptable treatment for GTS because of its resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.9, 10 The etiology of this condition is unclear, although consistent with our findings, previous pathological findings have revealed a small [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Epidemiology
In Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention, Schottenfeld D, Fraumeni JF (eds), pp 971–983. [nature.com]
Epidemiology They account for less than 1% of all sarcomas and are more frequently seen in males (M:F = 2:1) except when seen in the setting of post-mastectomy lymphedema which is clearly more common in women and is known as Stewart-Treves syndrome. [radiopaedia.org]
Pathophysiology
[…] glands: Angiosarcomas of the salivary glands and oral cavity are extremely rare and comprise only 2% of all angiosarcomas Prognosis of salivary gland angiosarcoma is not known due to the paucity of cases in the literature (Head Neck Pathol 2020;14:837) Pathophysiology [pathologyoutlines.com]

[…] associated with a poor prognosis.13 Angiosarcoma in mediastinal germ cell tumors also has an aggressive behavior and poor clinical course,14, 15 unlike pure mediastinal angiosarcoma.16 Therefore, resection of residual teratoma of GTS is required to prevent [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
