Presentation
We used the vigilance promoting drug modafinil to prevent such attacks in a case presented with endozepine stupor. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Entire Body System
-
Asymptomatic
Upon withdrawal of the drug, the patient experienced recurrent episodes and on reinstitution of modafinil she has remained asymptomatic in the following one year. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Psychiatrical
-
Dysphoric Mood
His dysphoric mood and lethargy improved and his level of anhedonia and amotivation decreased. In literature, only one case study has been reported on modafinil dependence at higher doses. [doi.org]
Urogenital

Sexual Dysfunction
Premature ejaculation (PE) is considered to be the most common form of male sexual dysfunction. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Hyperactivity
Drugs under investigation for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Curr Opin Investig Drugs 2002 ; 3: 1207 – 11. Google Scholar Medline 4. [oadoi.org]
The drug resolved both the inattention/hyperactivity symptoms as well as the amphetamine abuse. Modafinil may be a suitable candidate treatment for adults with ADHD and stimulant abuse. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
-
Agitation
We describe 2 cases in which administration of modafinil exacerbated agitation and hallucinations in DLB, and we also review data that may explain the mechanisms underlying this effect. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Mental illness: Modafinil may reactivate certain mental disorders or cause confusion and agitation. [chealth.canoe.com]

Side effects which have been reported by patients include: Headache Diarrhoea Nervousness or anxiety Agitation confusion Tremors Insomnia Hypertension (high blood pressure) Palpitations Tachycardia Angioedema Psychosis Depression or other behavioural [unitedpharmacies-uk.md]

Akinesia
The profound akinesia induced by reserpine (4 mg/kg s.c.; 5 h before testing) was reversed by ( )amphetamine 2 mg/kg but not by modafinil 40 mg/kg. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
In addition, modafinil fails to reverse reserpine-induced akinesia, whereas dextroamphetamine, a dopamine releasing agent (DRA), is able to do so. [en.wikipedia.org]

Stupor
Endozepine-4 stupor is a rare disorder. It presents with recurrent episodes of stupor and coma. Endozepine-4 levels are elevated during an attack with electroencephalogram showing fast activity during the ictal phase. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
-
Fine Tremor
Physical examination was within normal limits except for fine tremors. His blood investigations gave the following values hemoglobin - 12.4 gm%;, WBC count - 6300 cells/mm 3 ; platelet count - 2.4 lakhs/mm 3 ;, random blood sugar - 122 mg/dl. [doi.org]

Dyslipidemia
As co-morbidities the patient demonstrated overweight (IMC 29), systemic arterial hypertension and dyslipidemia. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Treatment
Next, we addressed the translational value of the observed effects by testing PBMCs from Narcolepsy type 1 patients that underwent Modafinil treatment. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
We did not include studies comparing different types of cancer‐modifying treatment and the effect on prognosis and quality of life. We also excluded those studies which did not focus on pharmacological treatment. [doi.org]
Etiology
Deficits in the dopamine receptor system are involved in the etiology of apathy; modafinil's increased dopaminergic transmission is thought to help alleviate apathy. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Thus, despite numerous investigations, the etiology of SLE-associated cognitive dysfunction remains unclear. There is no known means for preventing cognitive dysfunction in SLE. [clinicaltrials.gov]

Epidemiology
Patients completed the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale (CES-D) and Profile of Mood States depression-dejection subscale at baseline and posttest. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
