Vukić presented the research activities and projects within which LABUST is involved. The goal and scope of the MORUS project were also presented. [fer.unizg.hr]
Abstract The present study was undertaken to assess accelerating aging effects of high pressure, ultrasound and manosonication on the aromatic profile and sensorial attributes of aged mulberry wines (AMW). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

- Falling
They also have another strategy, which is relatively unusual for a tree: mulberry trees seem to like to fall over. [mulberrytrees.co.uk]
Fall color is an unattractive yellow (sometimes green, yellow and brown). Genus name comes from the Latin name. Specific epithet comes from the Latin word meaning white in reference to fruit color. [missouribotanicalgarden.org]
The MelasQOL score also improved tremendously for the 75% mulberry extract oil group, falling from 58.84 (SD: ± 3.18) at baseline to 44.16 (SD: ± 4.29) at week 8, unlike the placebo group that showed a less dramatic improvement from 57.44 (SD: ± 4.66) [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
The fruit is only to be eaten when fully ripe: dark, very plump, soft and juicy, readily falling off the tree. In Seattle that means late June at earliest, more likely mid-July into October. Unripe berries can be harmful. [goodfoodworld.com]
- Weakness
Compounds 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 exhibited weak activities against five human cancer cell lines, with IC(50) values ranging from 4.7 to 9.8 microg/ml. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Health, Safety & Environmental Concerns Branch Strength Rated as Weak. Root Damage Potential Rated as High. Allergy and Poisonous Health Hazard. Biogenic Emissions considered Moderate. Special Uses & Values Screen. Pollarding. [selectree.calpoly.edu]
Applications Commercial/Practical Though the wood of mulberry is relatively weak, it has been used in the crafting of furniture, fence posts, and farm tools. Fruits of red mulberry are used to make preserves, jams, pies, and other sweets. [edis.ifas.ufl.edu]
- Fever
Occasionally a serious cause of hay fever (Bernton, 1928). Myrica spp. A contributing cause of winter hay fever in Bermuda (Gay, Curtis and Norris, 1941). Pinus spp. Infrequently associated with hay fever (Boggs, 1946). Salix spp. [fao.org]
The pollen from members of the Morus genus can cause allergies ranging from hay fever to asthma. Storm Tolerance This tree has a medium to low resistance to wind. [edis.ifas.ufl.edu]
Medicinally, fruits are laxative, refrigerant in fevers, and used locally as remedy for sore throat, dyspepsia, and melancholia. [hort.purdue.edu]
- Fatigue
Traditionally, mulberry fruit has been used as a medicinal agent to nourish the yin and blood, benefit the kidneys, and treat weakness, fatigue, anemia, and premature graying of hair. [itmonline.org]
Respiratoric
- Cough
BACKGROUND: Root bark of mulberry (Morus alba L.) has been used in herbal medicine as anti-phlogistic, liver protective, kidney protective, hypotensive, diuretic, anti-cough and analgesic agent. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
It is used internally in the treatment of asthma, coughs, bronchitis, oedema, hypertension and diabetes[238]. The roots are harvested in the winter and dried for later use[238]. [pfaf.org]
[…] ditiretic, emollient, escharotic, expectorant, fungicide, laxative, nervine, purgative, refrigerant, restorative, sedative, tonic, and vermifuge, white mulberry is a folk remedy for aphtha, armache, asthma, bronchitis, bugbite, cachexia, cold, constipation, cough [hort.purdue.edu]

Skin
- Hirsutism
The leaves are lobed and very hirsute on the back, such that they stick to clothing easily. The fruit is a multiple fruit and is bright red when ripe. Please click on an image for a larger file. [wnmu.edu]
- Erythema
With regards to the adverse events, only mild itching was reported in four patients from the 75% mulberry extract oil group while there were 12 cases of either itching or erythema reported from the placebo group. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Psychiatrical
- Suggestibility
Five predicted mulberry miRNAs are found in the haemolymph and silk glands of the silkworm, suggesting interactions at molecular levels in the plant-herbivore relationship. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Neurologic
- Irritability
The sap is also an irritant, and contact with leaves and stems may result in varying degrees of skin irritation. White mulberry pollen is highly allergenic and contributes to hayfever. [web.archive.org]

Treatment
A total of 24 type 2 diabetic patents were divided randomly into two treatment groups: the mulberry agent and glibenclamide, for 30 days. Serum and erythrocyte membrane lipid profiles of the patients were analyzed before and after the treatments. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
These effects may allow the speculation of a more marked improvement in cardiovascular prognosis. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Etiology
A Babylonian etiological myth, which Ovid incorporated in his Metamorphoses, attributes the reddish-purple color of the mulberry fruits to the tragic deaths of the lovers Pyramus and Thisbe. [en.wikipedia.org]

Epidemiology
Epidemiological investigations have indicated that the moderate consumption of anthocyanin products such as red wine or bilberry extract is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and improvement of visual functions. [doi.org]
There is considerable anecdotal and epidemiological evidence that dietary anthocyanin pigments and polyphenolics may have preventive and therapeutic roles in a number of human diseases. [web.archive.org]
Prevention
Horizontal trunk lying on the ground Because of this tendency to lie on the ground, many people prop up elderly trees, to prevent this from happening. [mulberrytrees.co.uk]
[…] The object of these measures, they say, is to prevent it from being easy, by a conspiracy between the governor and the tranibors and by tyrannous oppression of the people, to change the order of the commonwealth. [uni-muenster.de]
The active compounds on white mulberry leaves prevents the oxidation of bad Cholesterol ( LDL cholesterol) causing the plaque around the arteries to be reduced which should help prevent strokes related to clog arteries. [web.archive.org]
MLE and these three flavonoids prevented the depletion of cystosolic antioxidant glutathione (GSH) in RBCs. AG had the greatest protective effect against AAPH-induced oxidative hemolysis and GSH depletion in RBCs. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
