- Splenomegaly
Splenomegaly may develop. Characteristic changes in peripheral blood include anisocytosis, poikilocytosis, and excessive numbers of RBC and WBC precursors. Diagnosis usually requires bone marrow biopsy. [merck.com]
Splenomegaly causes mild or moderate reductions in platelet count rather than severe thrombocytopenia. The cause of splenomegaly must be determined. [consultant360.com]
Examples include causesof splenomegaly, indications for splenectomy, differential diagnosis of normocytic anemia, macrocytic anemia, hypochromic anemia, thrombocytopenia, bone marrow failure syndromes, and manyothers. [books.google.com]
Features of myelophthisis: (1) leukoerythroblastic peripheral blood smear (2) microangiopathic hemolytic anemia with teardrop-shaped red blood cells (3) thrombocytopenia (4) extramedullary hematopoiesis with variable splenomegaly and hepatomegaly (5) [meducator3.net]
