Presentation
We present the clinical and pathologic details of an unusual case of myopericytoma occurring in the kidney. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Entire Body System
-
Asymptomatic
It is slow-growing, usually asymptomatic, and generally benign, although a malignant variant has been described. The etiology is unknown, but it has been associated with local trauma. The most common location is on the distal extremities. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Occasionally, an individual may experience a painful nodular mass at the site; though, most MPC Tumors are asymptomatic and painless masses Surgical treatment of the tumor is generally performed, through a complete excision of the tumor. [dovemed.com]

Weakness
A patient with a 3-month history of progressive weakness of the arms and legs was found to have a lytic lesion of T3. The lesion was surgically treated by curettage followed by a course of radiation. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
In 2010, a 61-years-old woman was examined because of muscle weakness and arthralgia in the extremities. Her symptomes started 3 years before her presentation. He denied any family history of metabolic bone disease. [endocrine-abstracts.org]

Soft Tissue Mass
Myopericytoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a highly vascular soft-tissue mass of the posterior cervical space. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
The cranial MRI showed a large soft tissue mass in the left nasal cavity, the sphenoethmoidal recess and the frontal sinus. Given the possibility that this tissue mass was associated with the osteomalacia, it was removed by endoscopic surgery. [endocrine-abstracts.org]
Hemangiopericytomas are usually manifested as well-shaped soft tissue masses with homogeneous density or signal intensity, as well as strong and homogeneous enhancement as seen on CT or MRI. [synapse.koreamed.org]
-
Soft Tissue Swelling
X-ray revealed a soft tissue swelling with no bony association. The excised nodule was a non-capsulated, well-circumscribed vascular neoplasm composed of proliferating spindle to ovoid bland cells with eosinophilic cytoplasm. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

-
Jaundice
We report a periampullary Epstein-Barr virus-myopericytoma in a patient with AIDS who presented with obstructive jaundice. The tumor contained round, oval, and plump spindle cells arranged around and between slit-like, dilated, and staghorn vessels. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Jaw & Teeth
-
Lesion of the Tongue
One patient presented with a bronchial mass and the other developed mass lesions of the tongue, vocal cord, and brain. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis can present with consistent pain over peripheral joints. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Arthralgia
In 2010, a 61-years-old woman was examined because of muscle weakness and arthralgia in the extremities. Her symptomes started 3 years before her presentation. He denied any family history of metabolic bone disease. [endocrine-abstracts.org]
Skin

Ulcer
The patient was a 64-year-old woman who demonstrated a recurrent ulcer on an atrophic plaque on her left shin. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Physical examination revealed freely movable solid masses without tenderness or ulceration. The regional lymph nodes were not palpable ( Fig. 1A ). [e-aps.org]

Hyperpigmentation
She had repeated trauma to this site, first in her early youth that left an area of hyperpigmentation, and then again at age 40. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Paresis
Patients experienced orbital swelling, progressing neuropathic pain, dermatoma specific pain, and oculomotor paresis. Mean age at diagnosis was 56.8 years (range, 38-74 years). After a mean follow-up of 38 months, no recurrence was detected. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Workup
Heightened awareness of Epstein-Barr virus-myopericytoma and occurrence in the periampullary location are critical to diagnostic workup and differentiation of myopericytoma from other mesenchymal tumors and pseudotumors especially in small biopsies and [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Treatment
No standard treatment is available, and complete surgical excision of the lesion may be the only potentially curative treatment. The efficacy of chemotherapy and radiation is uncertain. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
Lesions confined to the skin, soft tissue, and bone carry a good prognosis, showing spontaneous regression. The prognosis, however, is much less favorable when visceral lesions are present and the outcome may be fatal. [scinapse.io]
The prognosis after excision is good, but a very minority showed local recurrence. A differential diagnosis was also made. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Etiology
This clinical report adds to the limited body of evidence supporting trauma as an etiology for this rare tumor. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
[…] common in males Usually solitary Sites 50% of solitary myofibromas occur in cutaneous/subcutaneous tissues of head and neck region Myofibromatosis involves soft tissue and bone, more frequently occurs in deep soft tissues and may involve deep viscera Etiology [pathologyoutlines.com]

Prevention
Surgery is curative; however, a short course of chemotherapy or radiotherapy may be required to prevent recurrent disease in case of incomplete tumor excision. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
After identifying myopericytoma, it should be treated with wide surgical excision to prevent local recurrence. [e-aps.org]
