Medicines such as paracetamol or ibuprofen are not usually effective in neuropathic pain, while medicines that are sometimes used to treat depression or epilepsy can be very effective in some people with neuropathic pain. [cochrane.org]

Treatment
The period of treatment was two months and the frequency and intensity of headache attacks of the 30 days pre-treatment period were compared with the frequency of headaches in the treatment period. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
The findings of this study by Sackeim et al are hence more applicable to patients with a poor prognosis, such as those who are severely ill or medication resistant, for whom ECT may have been prescribed as a (relatively) last resort. [ebmh.bmj.com]
In addition, smoking cessation can reduce symptoms of cough and sputum production, decrease airway reactivity, and improve long-term prognosis. [aafp.org]
The use of CNS depressants may worsen the prognosis. The administration of barbiturates for control of convulsions alleviates an increase in the cardiac work load but should be undertaken with caution to avoid potentiation of respiratory depression. [healthyplace.com]
The long-term prognosis for geriatric depression has generally been considered mixed, with only one quarter to one third of patients robustly well at 1 to 3 years of follow-up in naturalistic studies.13,14 Patients older than 70 years appear to have a [jamanetwork.com]

Discussion We provide proof-of-concept from basic, clinical, and epidemiologic studies that blockage of the cardiac sodium channel by therapeutic dosages of a non-cardiac drug (nortriptyline) may be critical and cause life-threatening arrhythmias. [doi.org]
Pathophysiology
The pathophysiology of TTS, a variant of myocardial stunning, is still incompletely understood but could be related to sympathetic overstimulation. The possibility of TTS following toxic exposure is discussed. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
